He is the first homicide victim this year in Ottawa. The Ottawa police major crime unit closed off Dalhousie Street between Rideau and Besserer streets and a small stretch of Weller Street while they investigated. There are clubs and restaurants that stay open late and a number of surveillance cameras on the stretch of Dal- housie where Niran was stabbed.
