A Worth Picture Is 2002 Words Let's face it. It’s not anything new. We all do it. What could 1 be talking about?Taking pictures is something we all do forone reason oranother, but we don't always stop and think about how important and amazing it is to take pictures. We are able to “freeze time”. Wecan capture important, lifechangingevents that we will want to remember forthe rest ofour lives. Being able to take pictures can help in telling stories about pastevents, and provides us with a visual that brings the story to life. When we were little we all loved reading books with lot ofpictures in them; some ofus still do. They help us to understand the story better. This way we don't have to guess what people orotherobjects look like. High school is definitely an important pail in our lives that we will want to remember, but 30 years from now it will be difficult to remembereverything without pictures. Pictures really are worth 2002 words. -Valarie Perreault Aspiringtobean architcctual drafter.Daniel Demers, learns the skills In will need tofullfill hisdream. Mrs.Costelloisabigfanofplants.Youwouldknowthisifyou'veeverbeen inherclassbecausetheyarealloverherroom. Dedicated, hardworking, and compassionate are all words that describe Mrs. Cecilia Costello. Even if you have never had her as a teacher you know that she is an extraordinary person. When you pass her in the halls it is hard not to notice her big smiles and friendly hellos. Teachers like Mrs. Costello do not come along often. She really cares about her students, and we will all be sad to see her leave. Mrs. Costello has been a valuable member of Comp’s English department for over thirty years. She has touched the lives ofcountless numbers of students in only the most positive ways — by showing her concern for them as individuals, by creating a welcoming classroom environment, and preparing them to meet the challenges ofother English classes at the high-school level and beyond. Her concern for her students extends into her extracurricular involvements. She has been a class advisor, and she has advised the National Honor Society. Showing their appreciation for her efforts in the classroom as well as outside it, the students in the Class of 1991 dedicated Memini to her that year. She and her husband have been actively involved in the Chicopee St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee. For their I commitment and contributions to the City ofChicopee's participation in this organization that runs the Colleen Contest and awards scholarships to various Colleen contestants, Mrs. Costello and her husband received the Woods award in 2000. “Her retirement from teaching at Chicopee Comp will leave a void that will be difficult to fill. We will all miss her sense of humor and her quiet dedication. We hope she'll visit us frequently. We wish her the best ofhealth and happiness as she leaves teaching for what we hope will be as rewarding a retirement as was her career in the classroom.” commented Mrs. Judith S. Chelte. Chicopee Comprehensive High School English department supervisor, on how she feels about Mrs. Costello retiring. Mrs. Costello first started teaching at Kirby Middle School for sixth grade students. She taught business for a little while, but her career has been mainly in English. She has won favorite teacher here at Comp nine times, six of them being consecutive. When asked about Mrs. Costello. Mr. Schuerfeld said, “She is an awesome lady.” We all know that is the truth. Mrs. Costello is married with three sons and one grandchild. As you can see from all ofher contributions to the city ofChicopee Mrs. Costello is an amazing person. We are lucky to have had her as a part ofour school. She is definitely an unique individual. -Valarie Perreault -Chrissy Sheehan Doingwhatshedoesbest,Mrs.CostelloteachesherEnglishclassaboutthefundamentals ofourlanguage. The United States struck Afghanistan on October 8, 2001 and destroyed military bases and camps. Osama bin , Laden was not located during the attacks. Thousands oflives were lost and millions oflives have changed. Many workers from the World Trade Center are still missing. Many city workers, fire fighters, and police officers were killed or wounded trying to rescue lives from the many places that were attacked. In doing so, many ofthem have been emotionally changed and their families as well, have been greatly affected. The families ofthe ones who lost their lives on that day ofSeptember 1 1, will especially never forget this tragic event. Since the attacks on the United States, many Americans have been affected either by the fear ofwhat is next to come, or because they have lost family, friends, and loved ones. Although the United States has gone through so much, it has greatly united American citizens in many ways and brought out their patriotism. It has also caused an uncertainty to oureconomy. This tragic event, September 1 1, 2001, will always stay in our hearts and minds forever.
