DRUMS OF FREEDOM The battle drums have sounded in the battlefields of time where a million soldiers set the score in the battlefield of rhyme where the orders were to one and all each free man the same as they marched through many continents to spread the freedom reign The music it was awesome and the lyrics they were mean a thousand voiced joined the band as they marched on Halloween the conscripts they were joyful and glory filled their lips as they headed out to hell that day and took on the freedom blitz They left behind their lovers, mothers, daughters to the score as they counted all their blessings in another foolish war the medals they were crafted and the papers they were writ last love letters to their loved ones in another battle shift The song smiths wrote the words of rhyme in another solemn rift their widows cried in anguish and the flags were all adrift like the gravestones and the epitaphs to another soldiers vine the bugle post was sounded and the general went for tea another war was ended in an age of victories Ray Wills www.thegypsypoetonline.com wwwwww..bboouurrnneemmoouutthh..ggoovv..uukk//ppooeettrryywwaallll THE TRUMP CARD He played his trump card at the wedding but nobody came to call where arrogance and ignorance were lost upon the shore the shallow minds of men and beasts were there for all to see shame and horrors set in stone for all humanity The world was shocked and mortified when the horrors came to call like intruders in the party night with their backs against the wall the death wish bell it sounded out and the people came to pray upon the shores of liberties so many miles away The crowds were numbered for no one yet to see the visions of a drowning world lost in poverty the refugees were waiting for the souls of the world to awake like Dante in the underworld the trump card turned and spake The countless wars and godless praise was ushered in the wind where soulless souls were hidden in their world of mortal sins the books were read and prophets spoke of peace and love divine but the words were lost in rhetoric within the ranks of time Ray Wills www.thegypsypoetonline.com wwwwww..bboouurrnneemmoouutthh..ggoovv..uukk//ppooeettrryywwaallll Freedom I do not do it, since I never have I do not do it, because I do not dare I do not do it, not sure of how I do not do it, as I will fail, I often do. I do not do it, no action's safer I do not do it, they will shout I do not do it, I'll look silly I do not do it, I must please! I do not do it, I've tried before I do not do it, it will never work I do not do it, others better can decide I do not do it, who am I to try? In time it dawns, the choice to be stuck is mine In time it dawns, the binding chains are not real In time it dawns, the permission I need comes from me In time it dawns, the step to freedom is a breath away. Steve Annandale May 2016 wwwwww..bboouurrnneemmoouutthh..ggoovv..uukk//ppooeettrryywwaallll SHIFTING SANDS I stand on the sand It sifts through my toes Is it free to go wherever it goes? It is blown by the wind Lifted up and away Or dragged back to sea Back to where it once lay? I look over the waves Wonder where I might go Across the miles To a land I don’t know? I’ve seen the pictures Of mountains and trees And deserts of sand blown by the breeze. Are we all but grains of sand Blown by the wind of circumstance Or dragged into deep waters Our lives guided only by chance? Sometimes we choose which path to go But how do we choose, Will we ever know? R J A PIKE wwwwww..bboouurrnneemmoouutthh..ggoovv..uukk//ppooeettrryywwaallll Victim of Conflict Walking away walking slow walking to somewhere a place I don't know Strangers in front strangers behind strangers without words no friend do I find No-one to listen no-one to cry no-one to comfort as I alone lie Little possessions little to own little to cover right down to the bone Dust in my eyes dust in my hair dust on my clothing not much do I wear Feet that are weary feet that are worn feet after miles all battered and torn Crossing the border crossing the line crossing this wilderness where is the sign Searching for peace searching for home when I have found it no more shall I roam Written by Judy Clegg wwwwww..bboouurrnneemmoouutthh..ggoovv..uukk//ppooeettrryywwaallll Freedom The first whiff of sea air, accompanied by A seagull’s cry. The blast of heat like a sauna knocking you back From the Airport tarmac. The first morning without being woken by the bleeping No more timekeeping. Evenings eating and laughing, stars lighting the sky Fireflies flickering nearby. Whole days oblivious of the influence of creeping time Freedom sublime. That one last brandy, the two extra candies, factor 20 kept handy I’m here now, sun tan me. Wandering bright dusty town streets, mysteriously winding Unspoiled scene finding. Quietly watching the sun set in pink and orange conflagration Perfect vacation. Communing kindly with loved ones at natural paces Smiling faces. Discovering a favourite place making enchanting memories Offering sanctuary. Retreating from work, stress, chores and chains that bind tight Entering the light. No particular hurry, no reason to scurry, especially don’t worry Freedom recovery. Teresa Barton wwwwww..bboouurrnneemmoouutthh..ggoovv..uukk//ppooeettrryywwaallll Footsteps Those footsteps in the sand Oh how I would love to step in each one and walk and feel the sand of time trickle through my toes. It seems so long ago that I had the freedom just to be me For it's within the shadow of M.E I live my life and sometimes freedom does not come easy. I try to use the power of thought to over come the pain of not having the freedom I de- sire Tis not always easy for the hands of time run so fast and that feeling I had when I was young is disappearing oh so fast. But one day with the courage of a lion in my heart I hope I will have my freedom back and just be me and dance until the moon falls from the sky. Pauline Price wwwwww..bboouurrnneemmoouutthh..ggoovv..uukk//ppooeettrryywwaallll Freedom They walk to find their freedom With pain etched in their hearts They cry no tears of sorrow For they need all their strength to just be. Tis so sad to watch them in despair Makes ones heart cry for them But one hopes they find the freedom to have a life where they can smile To be able to enjoy all the small pleasures that having freedom can give, One wishes them well And hope through all their trying times they find the dream they are looking for Tis sad to think that the freedom that they crave has seen so many taken early to their graves And I as one can only pray for them and hope soon the pain that is in their eyes disappears and again they can find the freedom to just live. Pauline Price wwwwww..bboouurrnneemmoouutthh..ggoovv..uukk//ppooeettrryywwaallll FREEDOM Freedom gives me choice What to think What to wear What to eat Where to go How to behave Who to love Who to please Freedom in England Gives a choice In politics In Faith In Careers In hair colour In sports In world travel Tina Stone FREEDOM Freedom can lift the Soul or confuse Anything is possible Motivation to do anything can slip away Freedom can give you the choice of doing absolutely nothing When we have freedom sadly we do not cherish it Until it is taken away Try to imagine No choice, restriction, oppression Then rejoice in your freedom NOW Tina Stone wwwwww..bboouurrnneemmoouutthh..ggoovv..uukk//ppooeettrryywwaallll FREEDOM Free are the birds that fly the blue skies Free are the words that are spoken as lies On the battle front so much hurt and pain Many lives given never to be lived again Pray for peace the whole world through Stop futile wars do whatever you must do Teach us to be loving forever loyal and true To appreciate the world and the skies of blue Make life serene for all those children who See life as God's gift not to trample through Let's all be united and free across the world Fight for Peace and let Freedom be the word Patricia Taylor wwwwww..bboouurrnneemmoouutthh..ggoovv..uukk//ppooeettrryywwaallll
