For quite some time we addressed this issue, planned it and now we can finally announce that it’s a dream come true. My Dad carefully examined several different ways of creating this media source, so this step means continuing to build on the foundation stone of a working plan mosaic that he designed. This magazine is the result of seeking and finding a viable way to bring our great sport ever closer to the fans. Personally, I am feeling very excited as we can use this platform to keep you fully informed of what our organization does day by day, sharing information and impor- tant images, highlighting our role in history, but also our input into the future of Boxing. We will try to get close to our readers. There will be some sec- tions where we will be able to interact, greatly valuing the view- points of our readers according to their thoughts and feelings. Boxing is a great activity, producing a wide array of emotions, and many countries consider Mexico, as Its Patrimony. The World Boxing Council welcomes you. We hope you like this project. 3 COTTO CRUSHES GEALE IN FOUR ROUNDS ® On the ring: W orld Boxing Council middleweight Champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KO´s) demolished Daniel Geale with a massive left hook, followed b y In an irresistible the fourth the two follow up barrage, when the interchanged punches and Geale walked into shellshocked Aussie, some- a massive left hook, which toppled him like a redwood. Wilder dominated the action keeping Molina at bay with a drill- ing left jab, but then started tenta- tively pawing, and got caught with a big right hook and then a bigger left hook to the head close to the bell ending the third. It was a pertinent wake up call for the “Bronze Bomber” who felled Molina with a massive and well-timed left hook in the next round. Then in the fifth Molina was dropped hard twice. The first was a massive right hand, and then a hurtful flurry to add to the shellshock, had him down again. He showed great courage to sur- vive that sustained onslaught. Referee Jack Reiss went to the cor- ner to warn Molina about turning away, showing his back, when bar- rages of blows came his way. It was then a question of how long Molina could dodge or absorb in- creasing incoming flak to survive. The end came at one minute three seconds of round nine. Wilder shifted his feet, and gave himself room to graze Molina with a glanc- ing left, but the right hit home on the side of his face with full force, and down he went. It was a massive crumpling punch, which stretched out Molina and this time reprieve via resistance and recovery was utterly impos- sible. Referee Jack Reiss was in no doubt whatever. He immediately stopped the fight, and thankfully, Molina quickly recovered his sens- es and faculties following on from the absolute stunner. Porter (26-1-1, 16 KO) was able to use his jab and some no- table body work to land shots on Broner (30-2, 22 KO), who fought in sporadic spurts, minus a sense of purpose, focus or energy, let alone urgency. Porter’s strategy of nagging, har- rying and con- stant aggression, wasn’t particularly attractive, but it was practically ef- fective. The Filipino surprised everyone when he took the offensive. He landed powerful punches on Mijares who was knocked down in round two.
