Mathematical modelling and scientific computation are the promising, hot areasofcurrentresearchanddevelopment, whichcanprovide importantadvan- tages to users. Almost all mathematicians, industrialists, scientists, engineers and researchers in science disciplines are applying the techniques of mathemat- ical modelling and computing to increasing effect. Scientific computation and information are the innovative thrust areas of research to study the stability analysis and control problems related to human needs. Tofulfill the needs ofmathematicians, scientists, researchers,ICMMSC 2012 wasorganizedbytheDepartmentofMathematics,GRI-DUduringMarch16–18, 2012.Thisseriescontainscollectionofpapersthathavebeenpeerreviewedbythe researchersandpresentedinICMMSC2012. ICMMSC 2012 intended to provide a common forum for researchers, sci- entists, engineers and practitioners throughout the world to share their ideas, latest research findings, developments and applications including their links to mathematics, computational sciences and information sciences. In total, 332 papers were submitted to ICMMSC 2012, which were reviewed by the scientific peer-review committee consisting of 66 reviewers from various parts of the world. Based on the reviewers’ comments, we accepted only 62 papers for publication in this volume. In these proceedings, the accepted papers have been classified into two cate- gories, namely,“MathematicalModelling”and“ScientificComputation.”Papers related to analysis, algebra, differential equations, dynamical systems, control theory, optimization techniques, fuzzy sets and logic, graph theory, coding the- ory are listed in Part 1. Finally, papers related to topics such as computational mathematics, image processing, pattern recognition, algorithms and cryptogra- phy are listed in Part 2. As the Conference Chairs of ICMMSC 2012, we are very much thankful to all the national funding agencies for their grant support for the successful completion of this international conference. ICMMSC 2012 was supported partially by the following funding agencies: 1. UniversityGrantsCommission(UGC)-SpecialAssistanceProgramme(SAP) - Departmental Research Support II (DRS II), Government of India, New Delhi 2. Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, India VI Preface 3. Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, New Delhi, India 4. National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Mumbai, India WewouldliketoexpressoursincerethankstoS.M.Ramasamy,Vice-Chancellor, GRI-DU,Gandhigram,TamilNadu,India,forhismotivationandsupport.We alsoextendourprofoundthankstoalltheauthoritiesofGRI-DUaswellasthe facultymembersandresearchscholarsoftheDepartmentofMathematics,GRI- DU,Gandhigram. WeareverymuchgratefultotheChairsandMembersoftheTechnicalCom- mittee, Publication Committee, Financial Committee and Advisory Committee whoworkedasateambyinvestingtheirinvaluabletime andhardworktomake this event a success. We extend our hearty thanks to the keynote speakers who kindly accepted our invitation. Especially, we would like to thank the following professors: N. Rudraiah (Emeritus Professor,Bangalore University, India) P. Kandaswamy (Visiting Professor,GRI - DU, India) S. Ponnusamy (Indian Institute of Technology, Madras) Er. Kumaresan (Universityof Malaya, Malaysia) Santo Banerjee (Politecnico di Torino, Turin, Italy) A totalof 66subjectexperts fromaroundthe worldcontributedto the peer- review process. We express our sincere gratitude to the reviewers for spending their valuable time to review the papers and sorting out the papers for presen- tation at ICMMSC 2012. We thank MicrosoftResearchCMT for providing us with a wonderful“Con- ference Management Toolkit” for managing the papers. We also express our sincere thanks to Alfred Hofmann and his team at Springer for accepting our proposal to publish the papers in CCIS. March 2012 P. Balasubramaniam R.
