Begum [Mathematical Biosciences 135 (1996) 111-127] Book Review An Introduction to the Mathematics of Biology with Computer Algebra Models Volume contents Information for Authors Elsevier Information for Authors Mathematical Biosciences publishes carefully selected mathematical papers of both research and expository type devoted to the formulation, analysis, and numerical solution of mathematical models in the biosciences. Manuscripts should be submitted to the Editor: Michael Savageau, Ph.D., Professor and Chair, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Michigan Medical School, 5641 Medical Science Building II, Ann Arbor, MI 48109-0620 USA. Manuscripts should include the authors’ telephone numbers, facsimile numbers and/or e-mail addresses. Manuscripts are usually sent out for two independent reviews. Manuscripts are received with the understanding that their content is original work and is not being submitted for publication elsewhere. Authors should submit the original and three copies of the manuscript. The copies will be used in the reviewing process and will not be returned. Upon acceptance of an article by the journal, the author(s) will be asked to transfer copyright in the article to the Publisher. This transfer will ensure the widest possible dissemination of information under the U.S. Copyright Law. Form of manuscript. All material should be typed double spaced on 84 x 11-in. bond paper. Footnotes, reference lists, tabular material and figure legends should be typed on separate sheets. References to the literature are indicated in the text by full size Arabic numbers in brackets, i.e., [1], cited in sequential order. Footnotes to the text are indicated by superior numbers. In the journal they will be placed at the foot of the page on which they are cited. An Abstract of about 200 words or less should be included. The title page should include full names of the authors, with the mailing address for proofs and correspondence. Organization. Whenever feasible, the main lines of the development should be given in the text, emphasizing the structure of the argument and its biological relevance, and detailed proofs should be put in appendices. Mathematical notation. Use typewritten letters, numbers, and symbols wherever possible. Identify boldface, script letters, etc. the first time they occur. Distinguish between arabic ‘1’ and the letter ‘l’ and between zero and the letter ‘O’, capital or lower case, wherever confusion might result. Kuhn and A.W. Tucker, Eds., Princeton University, 1999, p. 131. Theses, Reports, and Other Unpublished Material. Style as a journal article with as much source information as possible. Figures. Illustrations should be submitted as original line drawings or glossy photostats of originals, as professionally done as possible, complete and ready for photoreproduc- tion. Lettering and data points should be large enough so when reduced to fit on the journal page (42 in. wide x 7 in. depth maximum) they can be read with ease. Proofs and reprints. Authors receive proofs, which should be proofread, corrected and returned within 48 hours of receipt. Reprints may be ordered using the order form which accompanies the acknowledgement letter from the Publisher.
