All Rights Reserved Massachusetts International Foreign Firm Directory INTRODUCTION The Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment is a publiclyfunded, non- profit corporation created by Executive Order ofthe Governor of Massachusetts in 1984. TTie primary objective of MOITI is to work with small and medium sized companies to assist them in entering an export market for the first time or to help them increase their export sales. Toward this end, MOITI provides one-on-one corporate counseling, leads overseas trade missions and assists Massachusetts companies in identifying and participating in international trade shows. Also, MOITI actively develops international contacts and trade leads, as well as publishes export services guides and industry directories. The 1991 Massachusetts International Foreign Firm Directory provides a wide array of information about Massachusetts' foreign-owned businesses. For the purpose of this directory, a firm is designated "foreign owned" if at least a majority equity interest is held by a company located outside of the United States. This directory contains information on 497 businesses which are based in 30 source countries. England, Japan, Germany, Canada and France representthe largestownership of Massachusetts companies. These foreign owned firms are predominantly in the electronics, building and construction, computer hardware/software and miscellaneous machinery industries. The first section of the directory presents Massachusetts foreign owned companies, organized alphabetically by country and by firm. Second is an alphabetical company index. The third section is a product index, listing 23 product headings. A fourth section presents statistics on foreign ownership and employment both by country and by industry. Lastly, an order form and an add/update form have been provided for your convenience.
