It is an ultimate resort island only with beautiful beaches. * Sweet fudge of Murdick's Fudge is delicious. * You can see many signs of whales as Martha's Vineyard used to be a whaling base. Tourists can enjoy whale watch. * There are many bike rental shops on the island. * Menemsha is an only fishing village in Martha's Vineyard. There are many fishing tools in 200-year old small huts. * There are small houses called "Gingerbread House". Nantucket (P. 140) Nantucket baskets were used for carrying foods by farmers and housewives before. They are also called Lightman ship baskets as seamen made them during a long voyage. Nantucket baskets were derived from native Americans baskets around 1820. Nantucket baskets can be used for a lifetime by having repaired. Nantucukt basket is a status for peopele of Nantucket. Helen, who lives in Nantucket, has one woven by her husband, (p. 141) Nantucket appeared in "Moby Dick" of Melbil. It was a whaling base from 18th to the end of 19th century. There are more than 800 mansions built by millionaires who made a fortune by dealing with whale oil, which gives an elegant atmosphere. * Mr. Micheal Kane is a carftsman of Nantucket baskets. He does all works to make a basket from weaving to drawing on the plate on the top of the basket. * Houses called "Grey Ladies" are nostalgic. * There are plates of pineapples or eagles on the entrace of captains' houses. Those plates were hanged to let their freinds know it is OK to visit captains houses. * There are ships from the Carib and Mexico at Nantucket harbor. * Tourists first see a white light house when they arrive Nantucket by ferry. (p. 142) New England is famous for seafoods. Clam chowder is a typical dish there. * How to eat boiled lobster. * How to cook clam chowder.
