My name is Mitobo, patron spirit ofthe Indian buri-
al ground located where the three lands meet.
Every fifty years I appear among the living to
observe this sacred ground. I represent the
tribes that have been here before, and have
entrusted the land unto you. It is your duty
to use the land wisely, in a way as to
honor your predecessors. It is for that
pledge that I have come to collect.
Since I was last here in a quiet corn-
field, much has changed, much has
risen. Many ofthese things extend
far beyond my knowledge, but
in these pages I will relate to
you these changes through
my own eyes.

Boy, they backed the right guy.
Guys, be nice to her.
First I came upon a tribe of the
younger ones you call Freshmen. At
first they are shaky on their new legs,
but they are eager to learn the ways
of their elders. Their first year is not
an easy one, with the big bearded
one teaching their history and a
swamp of homework to wade
through. It is a year of arduous labor,
but they are a strong group and they
will stick together well.
Hey. aren’t you on a TV show?
New Kids on the Block?
So what are you guys looking at anyway? Is this what Freshmen do, just hang?

Nothing beats a hug.
The second year of your learning is
called “sophomore.” In this year
you will feel confidence in having
mastered your first year, but do not
be deceived; your work has just
begun. Here you face Silas Marner
and a funny little one by the name
of O’Bara will make you climb trees
in the dead of winter, so hold fast
and beware!
