Preview Marine Corps Gazette 1999: Vol 83 Index

1999 Marine Corps Gazette Index In this issue, as in every December issue for the past 20 years, we are publishing our annual index—a listing by sub- ject and author of the articles, and by book author of the reviews published over the past year. Similar indexes were published in 1966-1979 but occasionally appeared in January rather than December issues. We commend these in- dexes to your attention as they are a guide to the many articles of lasting value that appeared in the Gazette over the past 34 years. Most letters are not indexed. As a matter of editorial policy, we almost always publish reactions to articles THREE MONTHS AFTER THE ARTICLE APPEARED. Although this delay is undesirable, it allows time for most of the readers to respond and enables us to consolidate their reactions. When we violate the “3-month rule” by publishing significant letters early or late, we try to cite these letters in the subject index. We also continue to index selected news items in an attempt to provide you with more opportunities to review Gazette information. GAZETTES ARE A VALUABLE RESEARCH TOOL. Twenty years worth can easily be stored, and moved, in a 3-foot mountout box.
