1992 Marine Corps Gazette Index In this issue, as in every December issue for the past 13 years, we are publishing our annual index—a listing by subject and author of the articles and book reviews published over the past year. We commend it to your special attention because so many Gazette articles have lasting value and back issues are valuable research sources. We have put some thought into categorizing articles by subject, have done considerable cross-indexing, have avoided “clever” titles throughout the year, and have frequently included references to related material within the articles themselves—all in hopes that it will help you find the topics you are interested in and exploit the wealth of material in your back issues. Letters have not been included in the index. As a matter of editorial policy, letters commenting on articles almost always appear THREE MONTHS AFTER the article was published. Although this delay is undesirable, it allows time for most of the readers to re- spond and enables us to consolidate comments. This year we have included selected news items in an attempt to provide you with more opportunities to review Gazette information.
