The box contains a cartoon-styled image of a man, naked apart from gumboots, standing behind a sheep, in a position implying he is having sex with the sheep. Consideration was given to whether the publication promotes or supports or tends to promote or support bestiality, as per s3(2)(e) of the Films, Videos, and Publications Classification Act 1993. It was determined that the publication did not invoke this criterion. The publication's intent is humorous: it satirises the notion of the New Zealand sheep farmer who has sex with his sheep, a long-standing subject of humour in New Zealand society. The publication's humorous nature and the familiarity of its subject matter cannot be said to promote or support or tend to promote or support bestiality. The publication presents a crude form of sexual humour, and the sexual nature of the activity depicted indicates it is intended for adults. Given the publication's treatment of sexual matters, there is likely to be injury to the public good unless it is restricted to an adult audience. Consideration has been given to the right to freedom of expression as laid out in s14 of the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990. The classification of this publication is considered to be the least restriction on the availability of the publication consistent with minimising likely injury to the public good.
