It is rare that a week passes when someone does not ask me questions-either in person or via the mail-about specific techniques of natural magick. Since I became involved in the Craft in 1980, I have discovered that the questions of newcomers vary little from year to year; the same information is always sought by those embarking upon this path. Do I need tools to make magick work? Which tools do I need the most? How do I learn to visualize? How do I raise and send energy? What are words of power? How do I know if I am using the right words? Can I use a fire-ruled herb in a love spell? How about a water-ruled herb in a protection spell? What guidelines can help me decide which is which? How do I find spells, and how do I know they are constructed correct ly? How do I make my own spells? Are my own spells as good as those I find in other people's spell books? What happens if I make a mistake? Why do I need to keep written magickal records? What about the moon's role in magick? How do I know if I am violating someone's free will? What is psychic self-defense and how do I achieve it? I-low do I astral project, and how do I work magick on the astral plane? What is the role of the elements in magick? What is sex magick all about? Is there such a thing as advanced natural magick, and how does it work? I wrote Making Magick in response to these questions. By the time you finish working through it from cover to cover, I sincerely hope that you wil1 have all the answers to your ques tions about basic natural magick-and about some of the advanced techniques as well. But having magickal knowledge is only a small part of being a successful Witch. The focus and ... Vlll
