INTRODUCTION This recipe book came about as a result of a conversation Mara had with her mother recently about the best gift she had ever given her mom being a chest freezer. Her mother had assumed she wanted a little freezer with shelves and drawers, similar to what she already had in her side-by-side refrigerator. Mara shook her head and said, "No, do the math. The chest freezer will give you over twice the cubic feet of storage, in just about the same floor space. Plus, look at the price difference." When her mother said to her the other day how much time and money she had saved as a result of that one little chest freezer, we put our heads together to see how we could help people save even more of both of these precious commodities. Sometimes convenience foods from the supermarket freezer section can be extremely handy, but again, do the math. How much are you REALLY paying, pound for pound, for that TV dinner with a couple of ounces of meat? Or that so- called 'lean' entree, which may be low in calories but high in salt, artificial coloring, preservatives and so on? We have always been great believers in healthful eating.
