программ по дисциплинам "Иностранный (английский) язык", "Деловой иностранный (английский)
язык" для курсантов старших курсов специальности 26.05.06 (180405.65) "Эксплуатация судовых
энергетических установок". Предназначено для использования на продвинутом этапе обучения
английскому языку. Способствует формированию общекультурных и профессиональных
компетенций в соответствии c требованиями ФГОС.
Включает разнообразные тексты по специальности, инструкции по эксплуатации судовых
энергетических установок, диалоги на профессиональные темы, а также систему грамматических
и лексических упражнений и заданий, целью которых является активизация и закрепление
приобретенных речевых умений и навыков.

This text-book has been written in accordance with the requirements and contents of the
"Foreign Language" and "Business Foreign Language" syllabi for senior cadets of the specialty
26.05.06 (180405.65) "Running and Maintenance of Internal Combustion Engines". It is intended for
being used at the advanced stage of the English language study. It promotes common cultural and
professional competencies formation in accordance with federal state education standards.
It includes various texts for specialist reading, ship power plants operation and maintenance
instructions, professional dialogues, and also a system of exercises and tasks both in lexis and
grammar aimed at the intensification and consolidation of learned skills.

Введение
Данное учебное пособие предназначено для курсантов старших курсов
Морской академии, обучающихся по программам дисциплин "Иностранный
(английский) язык", "Деловой иностранный язык". Целью данного курса
является дальнейшее развитие умений и навыков устной и письменной
речи на иностранном языке на базе изучения нормативных документов,
конвенций для успешного формирования общекультурных компетенций
ОК-16, ОК-18, ОК-19, включенных в перечень компетенций ФГОС ВПО
для специальности 26.05.06 (180405.65) "Эксплуатация судовых энерге-
тических установок", а также формирования элементов профессиональной
компетенции ПК-1, заключающейся в способности генерировать новые идеи,
выявлять проблемы, связанные с реализацией профессиональных функций,
формулировать задачи и намечать пути исследования.
Учебный материал данного пособия базируется на терминологической
лексике по теме "Эксплуатация двигателей внутреннего сгорания", главным
образом дизельных двигателей, используемых на судах траловых и торговых
флотов. Он включает в себя чтение инструкций по эксплуатации судовых
энергетических установок, обсуждение должностных обязанностей вахтенного
механика, составление судовой документации, обсуждение предстоящего
ремонта неисправного оборудования.
Тексты, включенные в пособие, сопровождаются тщательно разрабо-
танной системой репродуктивных упражнений, направленных как на отработку
новой терминологической лексики, так и на обучение нового, повторение
и закрепление пройденного грамматического материала и совершенству-
ющих навыки технического перевода (с английского на русский и с русского
на английский). В пособии также представлены задания творческого характера,
имеющие целью развитие речемыслительной деятельности курсантов.

Большое внимание в пособии уделяется развитию умений и навыков
устной речи, в частности диалогической, для чего разработаны и включены
в пособие ситуации и задания для парной и групповой форм работы.
Составление судовой документации – очень важное направление при
выполнении должностных обязанностей судомехаником. Данное учебное
пособие не только представляет образцы ремонтных ведомостей, описаний
поломок и отказов механизмов, запросов о ремонте, но и обучает пра-
вильности составления различных документов.
Учебное пособие может быть использовано как на практических
аудиторных занятиях, так и на факультативных, а также для самостоятель-
ной работы курсантов под руководством преподавателя.

Preparations for Starting the Engine under (cid:26)ormal Conditions
If the engine has been at standby for only a short period of time,
the procedure is as follows.
1. Disengage the turning gear.
2. Blow-off the starting air system to remove any water.
3. Blow-off the pneumatic starting system to remove any water.
4. Start the lubricating oil pumps for:
the main engine;
the turbochargers;
the camshaft;
the governor amplifier.
5. Check the oil pressure and the flow of oil through the system of oil sight
glasses on the main engine and turbochargers.
6. Check that the cylinder lubricators are filled with the correct type of oil,
and that they deliver oil when operated manually.
7. Start the cooling water pumps and check the cooling water pressures.
8. Lubricate bearings and links in the manoeuvring mechanism.
9. Set the shut-off valve to the "Service" position and open the air supply to
the pneumatic starting system – the shut-off valve must be in the "Service"
position when the ship is sailing and in the "Blocked" position during some
repairs.
10. Switch on the power for the electrical equipment in the manoeuvring
system.

11. Close the valve to the starting air distributor, the order selector must
be in the "Emergency Running" position, and the camshaft must be in the outer
position for "Ahead" or "Astern". Check that the index for all fuel pumps
corresponds to the different positions of the manoeuvring handle. After checking,
open the valve to the starting air distributor.
12. Start the fuel oil primary pump and the nozzle cooling pump and
check the pressure.
13. Vent the fuel oil valves.
14. Turn the engine crankshaft slowly through 1 revolution with indicator
cocks open to prevent damage arising as a result of collecting lubricating oil,
fuel oil or water in the cylinder. Slow turning is achieved by setting the
telegraph handle to the desired direction of rotation and the manoeuvring handle
to the "Start" position. When the crankshaft has turned through 1 revolution,
push the manoeuvring handle back to the "Stop" position. Slow-turning of the
crankshaft must always be carried out as near to starting as possible, and in all
cases at a maximum of half an hour before the first manoeuvres are carried out.
15. Close the indicator cocks.
16. Set the order selector to the desired position.
17. Inform the bridge that the engine is ready.
