You may make copies and distribute them FiSabilillah– ه هِِ ََّّللللاا للِِ ييببِِسس ييففِِ Report any errors, omissions or suggestions to [email protected] ARIC Arabic Class Notes –Part 6 (ver. 11) 2 Particle of Emphasis and Accusative Case ) ب ص نو د يكِ وت فُ رح ( نَّ ِ ا  نَّ ِ ا has many meanings, e.g. indeed, verily, truly, surely, …  It is only used in a nominal sentence ( ةُ يمِ سإِ لا ةُ ل مجلا) َّ ُ  It is a particle of emphasis  It makes the subject ( اد ت بمُ ) of the sentence accusative ( ب وصُ نم )  The analysis of the nominal sentence changes as follows, when it contains نَّ ِ ا ب وصُ نم new Thebook new Thebook Indeed ِ ِ ِ ِ د يدج بُ ات كلا د يدج ب ات كلا نَّ ِ ا ِ ديكوت فُ رح ر ب خ ا د ت بمُ نَّ ِ ا رُ ب خ نَّ ِ ا مُ سِا ب ص نو ARIC Arabic Class Notes –Part 6 (ver. 11) 3 ن نََّّ ِِ اا wwiitthh AAttttaacchheedd PPrroonnoouunnss (( ة ة لل صصِِ َّتَّتممُُ رر ِِئئاامم ضض )) نَّ ِ ا The pronoun ( ريمِ ض ) is ه ُ َّنِ ا ه ُ و هُ always ب وصُ نم when it is ام هُ َّنِ ا ام هُ ام هُ attached to نَّ ِ ا م ْ هُ َّنِ ا م ْ هُ مْ هُ ِ doctor Indeed he اه َّنِ ا اه ي ه ب يبِ ط هُ َّ نِ ا ام هُ َّنِ ا ام هُ ام هُ د يكِ وت فُ رح ن َّ هُ َّنِ ا ن َّ هُ نَّ هُ نَّ ِ ا رُ ب خ نَّ ِ ا مُ سِا ب ص نو ك َّنِ ا ك ت ْنّّا Same analysis ام كُ َّنِ ا ام ُك ام تُ ْنّّا applies to all م ْ كُ َّنِ ا م ْ ُك مْ تُ ْنّّا كِ َّنِ ا كِ تِ ْنّّا ام كُ َّنِ ا ام ُك ام تُ ْنّّا Please note the two ن َّ كُ َّنِ ا ن َّ ُك نَّ تُ ْنّّا different variations for ي ِّنِ ا – ينِ َّنِ ا يْ ا نّّا ْ ْ these two pronouns اَّنِ ا – ان َّنِ ا ا ن نُ حْ ن ARIC Arabic Class Notes –Part 6 (ver. 11) 4 Sisters of نَّ ِ ا ( نَّ ِ ا تُ او خ ّّا )  The following words are called “Sisters of نَّ ِ ا” because grammatically they act like نَّ ِ ا, i.e. they make the noun following them ب وصُ نم  نَّ ّّا ،نَّ كِ ل ،نَّ ّّاك ،ت ي ل ،لَّ ع ل ب وصُ نم easy Theexamination I hope ل هس ن اح تِ مإِ لا لَّ ع ل لَّ ع ل رُ ب خ ؟ لَّ ع ل مُ سِا ARIC Arabic Class Notes –Part 6 (ver. 11) 5 IInntteerrrrooggaattiivvee ““OOrr”” –– ممْْ ّّاّّا  مْ ّّا means “or” and is used in an interrogative sentence. Is this a masjid or a house? ؟ت يب مْ ّّا اذ ه د جِ سم ّّا Are you from Germany or France? ؟اس نر فِ نْ مِ مْ ّّا ت ناّّ اي ِنام لا ن مِ ّّا  This construction requires that nothing comes between ّّا and the first choice and between مْ ّّا and the second choice … Choice 2 مْ ّّا … Choice 1 ّّ ا س رِّ د مُ مْ ّّا ب يبِ ط ت نّّا ّّ ا س رِّ د مُ مْ ّّا ت نّّا ب يبِ ط ّّ ا  In a non-interrogative sentence, وْ ّّا is used for ‘or’ ِ ِ I heard the teacher or the principal ر يدمُ ل ا وْ ّّا س رِّ د مُ لا تُ عمس ARIC Arabic Class Notes –Part 6 (ver. 11) 6 EExxaammpplleess ffrroomm QQuurraann –– ...... م مْْ ّّاّّا ...... ّّا ّّا As to those who reject Faith, it is the مْ ل مْ ّّا مْ هُ ت رْ ذ نّّاّّا مْ هِ يْ ل ع ء او س اورُ ف ك ن يذِ َّلا نَّ ِ ا same to them whether thou warn them or do not warn them; they will ِ ِ ﴾٦:ةرقبلا﴿ ن ونُ مؤْ يُ إل مْ هُ رْ ذنُت not believe. (2:6) Have they feet to walk with? Or hands ن وشُ طِ بْ ي د يْ ّّا مْ هُ ل مْ ّّا ۖ اه ِب ن وشُ مْ ي ل جُ رْ ّّا مْ هُ لّّا to lay hold with? Or eyes to see with? Or ears to hear with? Say: "Call your ن اذ ا مْ هُ ل مْ ّّا ۖ اه ِب ن ورُ صِ بْ يُ ن يُ عْ ّّا مْ هُ ل مْ ّّا ۖ اه ِب 'god-partners', scheme (your worst) against me, and give me no respite! ﴾١٩٥:فارع إلا﴿ ... ۗ اه ِب ن وعُ م سْ ي (7:195) Say: "Is that best, or the eternal د عِ وُ يتِ َّلا دِ لْ خُ ْلا ةُ نَّ ج مْ ّّا ر يْ خ ك ِلذ ّّا لْ ُق garden, promised to the righteous? for them, that is a reward as well as a goal ﴾١٥:ناقرفلا﴿ ارً يصِ م و ءً از ج مْ هُ ل تْ ناك ۚ ن وقُ تَّ مُ ْلا (of attainment). (25:15) Did you mislead these, My servants, or اوُّلض مْ هُ مْ ّّا ءِ إل ؤُ ـه يدِ اب عِ مْ تُ لْ ل ضْ ّّا مْ تُ نّّاّّا ... did they [themselves] stray from the way? (25:17) ﴾١٧:ناقرفلا﴿ ل يبِ سَّ لا ARIC Arabic Class Notes –Part 6 (ver. 11) 7 ““HHee//IItt iiss nnoott”” –– س سيي ل ل ْْ  سي ل is verb ِ ِ  It is an incomplete verb ( صقا ن ل عف), because it does not convey the complete meaning.  It requires a predicate ( ربخ ) to complete its meaning.  It is used in a sentence as follows ب وصُ نم new Thebook new Thebook not new Thebook not د يدِ ج بُ ات كِ لا د يدِ ج ِ ب بُ ات كِ لا س ي ل OORR اً ديدِ ج بُ ات كِ لا س ي ل ِ ِ ل عف ل عف سي ل ربخ ر ب خ ا د ت بمُ ،ر ورُ جم و رٌّ اج صِقا ن ُ صِقا ن ،ةِ ل مجُ لا هُ بشِ س ي ل مُ سِا س ي ل مُ سِا سي ل ربخ ُ  The سي ل ربخ usually takes a ـِب, but it can also be without one. In the latter ُ case, the س ي ل رُ ب خ will be ب وصُ نم .
