Subsequently these lectures become the basis of a book jointly published by the Library and the Press. For 2002 and 2003 the two institutions asked seven noted writers, scholars, and critics to offer a “meditation on temptation” on one of the seven deadly sins. Lust by Simon Blackburn is the third book from this lecture series. Previous books from the New York Public Library/Oxford University Press Lectures are: The Old World’s New World by C.
