The author provides a detailed account of the history of gambling regulation in the USSR and a survey of the current legislation, while special attention is paid to matters of gambling licensing and taxation. The publication is recommended for officers of any legislative authorities, civil servants, teachers, postgraduate and undergraduate students of law universities and departments, gambling operators and high readership. It is mainly happening due to the fact that the heads of countries advanced in terms of economics have realized the role of the regulated gaming business in the development of a range of economic sectors - tourism, show business, leisure and entertainment, construction, manufacturing, etc. But it is only possible when the gaming business exists in an environment of clear rules, regulations and standards and is duly controlled by the relevant authorities. This book is the first of its kind as it is a compiled detailed review of gambling laws of CIS countries and adjacent states, written in the English language. Publishing the book, we were pursuing the major aim of increasing the level of awareness among our colleagues, partners and prospective partners in the legislative matters of the countries which are finding themselves in greater need of professional operators.
