THE NEW SOUTH WALES BAR ASSOCIATION 1. In `addition to the persons mentioned in Rule Three of the Rules 'of the 18th December, 1877, relating to the admission of Attorneys, the following persons shall be eligble for admission as Solicitors of the Court, namely :- Any person who has or who hereafter shall have completed the term of ten years of clerkship in the office or offices of some one or more Solicitors practising in the Colony of New South Wales and who has for at least five of such ten years been a Managing Clerk in such office or offices. 2. Any such person must pass the Intermediate Law and Final Law Examinatïons prescribed for Articled Clerks, for the purpose of which examinations, as regards notices and payment of fees, such person shall be deemed to be. an Articled Clerk. 3.-No person shall be allowed to present himself for the Final Law Examination until at least six months have elapsed from the time of his passing the Intermediate Law Examination. 4. Before any such person can be admitted to the Intermediate Law Examination he must obtain the permission of the Judges of the Supreme Court to be so examined. 5. To obtain such permission such person must apply, through the Secretary of the Solicitors Admission Board, to the Judges, and together with such application must lodge the following documents:— (a) A certificate from each Solicitor with whom such person has been a Clerk to show that the applicant is entitled to apply and that his character and knowledge of his work are such as to render him fit to be admitted as a Solicitor. • (b) A certificate from two Counsel of five years' standing to whom the applicant is personally known as to his com- petency and character. (e) Certificates from two householders to whom the appli- cant has been known for at least five years, as to his character and fitness to be admitted as a Solicitor. Provided, however, that the giving or withholding of such permission shall be in the absolute discretion of the said Judges, and that in any case further or other certificates may be required.
