LaCrangeCollegeisalsoapprovedbytheUnitedMethodistUniversitySenate. It has membership in the National Association of Independent Colleges and theGeorgia Foundation for IndependentColleges. TheGeorgia Professional Standards Commission, which confers professional certificates upon college graduatesmeetingrequirementsinearlychildhood,middlegrades,orsecondary education, has awarded highest approval to LaCrange college's program of teachereducation. Admission ClearAccept Applicants must presentthefollowing indication oftheir readinessto undertakesenior-levelstudy. • Atleastsixty(60)semesterhoursorninety(90)quarterhoursofacceptable transfercreditsfroma regionallyaccredited institution. (Manysuccessful applicantsmayalreadyhaveafour-yeardegree in anotherarea.) • A 2.0GPAon all Collegework, which must include at least 30semester hoursofgeneraleducationcoursesdrawnfromandincludingatleastone coursefromeachofthefollowingareas: Englishcomposition,mathematics, social/behavioral science, and humanities/fine arts. A science course is recommended. • Studentsundertheageoftwenty-fivearenotnormallyadmittedtoLaCrange College atAlbany. Exceptionally strong and mature students under the ageotLwenty-fivewhoareemployedfull-timeorwhoaremarriedorhave dependentsmaypetitiontobeadmitted. Theirpetition shouldconsistof apersonalstatement,twolettersofrecommendationoneofwhichshould be from a previouscollege instructororadviserand the othershould be from the current employer. The petition and supporting letters should emphasizethematurityofthestudentandthelevelofexperiencethatthe student will bring to the cohort group. The ability of the applicant to contributetothegrowthofthegroupthroughexamplesandbackgroundis the basis for the over-25 expectation. The petition is delivered to the Director of LaCrange College at Albany who will review the applicant's petition and other application materials. The Director will interview the candidatebytelephoneorin person. TheDirectorwill prepareawritten recommendation andforwardtherecommendationtotheVicePresident for Academic Affairs who will forward the petition to the Director of Admissionwitha recommendationforaction. page7 • All transcriptsofcollege-levelworkdone. • Completedapplicationthatincludesapersonalstatement,aresume,usual application information for non-traditionalstudents, application fee, and asignedstatementregardingfullunderstandingofthenatureandstructure oftheOrganizational Leadershipcurriculum. DeferredAccept Theacceptanceofsomestudentsmaybedeferreduntiltheyhavemetcertain pre-entrancerequirements: • Where the transferable credits are fewerthan the requisite 60 semester hoursor90quarterhours,studentsmaybeacceptedpendingcompletion ofthe necessarycourseworkatanotherinstitution. LaCrangeCollegeat Albanyrecommendscourseworktaken inthiscategory. • Wheretheapplicant'scollegeGPAislessthantherequired2.0,thestudent maybeasked tocompleteadditionalworkatanotherinstitution priorto matriculatingatLaCrangeCollegeatAlbany. Theirgradesinthosecourses must demonstrate that they can be successful in a senior-level college program. CourseworktakeninthiscategoryistobespecifiedbyLaCrange CollegeatAlbany. • Where the applicant is lacking in one or more of the specific courses required foradmission, such as English Composition, thestudentmaybe offeredacceptancependingcompletion ofthecourse(s). Access LaCrangeCollegeatAlbanyadmitsqualifiedstudentsofanyrace,color,religious tradition, national and ethnicorigintoall the rights, privileges, programsand activitiesgenerallyaccordedormadeavailabletostudentsatLaCrangeCollege atAlbany. Itdoes notdiscriminate on the basis ofsex, race, color, religious tradition, nationalorethnicorigininadministrationofitseducationalpolicies, admissionspolicies, loan programsand otherschool-administered programs. Earning Credit Through United States Armed Forces Institute and Service Schools Coursestaken through The United StatesArmed Forces Institute (USAFI)and other recognized military educational programs are accepted in accordance withthepolicygoverningtransferworkwhen presentedonofficialtranscripts fromaccredited institutions. Uptonine (9) semesterhoursofelectivecredit willbeallformilitaryservicecredit, includingUSAFIcorrespondencecourses andmilitaryserviceschoolcoursesasrecommendedbytheAmericanCouncil on Education. Academiccreditforoneactivitycourse in physicaleducation, uptoamaximumoffour(4)semesterhours,will beawardedforeachtwo(2) monthsserved in the Armed Forces.
