Theconferencewasprecededbyadayoffreetutorialsforparticipantswhowished tolearnaboutthestateoftheartofresearchrelatingtothetopicsofKMOandLTEC. ThetutorialswereheldonJuly11,2022.TheconferenceitselfcommencedonJuly12, 2022. Knowledge management (KM) identifies and globalises knowledge to facilitate access for all collaborators. Businesses depend on a reliable knowledge management systemforsmoothinformationsharingandinternaloperations.Technologyhasatremen- dousimpactonknowledgemanagement,inspiringthedevelopmentofrobustsoftware platformstoleverageknowledgemanagementstrategies. Knowledgemanagementsolutionshavesustainedmomentumandevenaccelerated their growth during the COVID-19 pandemic. Effective knowledge management sup- portedbytechnologyenablesorganisationstobecomemoreinnovativeandproductive. Thereisincreaseduseofcloudtechnology,AI,languageprocessingsolutions,andgraph databases which have all contributed to a robust environment for knowledge manage- ment. Technology is undoubtedly a big part of the growing need for more effective knowledgemanagement.Inaddition,knowledgesharingisapervasivechallenge.With therapidadvanceofIndustry4.0.,knowledgemanagementwillplayanimportantrole inorganisationsofallsizes. KMtodayisdevelopingamorerobustapproachthatincludesvendors,clients,and customers.Newerknowledgemanagementoptionsmustallowforexternalintegration sothatinternalandexternalpartiescanshareinformationmoreeasily.Blockchainand cryptographictechnologiesallowusersinKMtoownandcontroltheirdata,andfordata tobetrustedbythethirdpartiestheychoosetointeractwith.Therearepotentialbenefits of automating routine knowledge tasks and using powerful algorithms to recommend relevantcontentandcolleaguesbasedonusers’personasandthecontextoftheirwork. The importance of KM as a strategic knowledge resource during the COVID-19 crisiscannotbeoverstated.Itplaysacriticalroleinguidingdecisionmakerstomake strategicdecisionsnotonlyonbehalfoforganisationsbutforcountriesglobally.Optimal useofknowledgeresourcesiscriticalinensuringthatorganisationssurviveinuncertain timessuchastherecentpandemic.Whatformwillknowledgemanagementtakeinthe post-COVID-19era?. Although technology plays crucial roles in the advance of KM, it is important to rememberthatKMwillalwaysfailiftheendusersandstakeholdersarenotatthecentre ofstrategy,design,implementation,andoperation.KMshouldalsobeconcernedwith human-centeredapproaches,takingintoconsiderationthecorecomponentsofpeople, vi Preface process,content,andculturealongwithnewdesignmethodologiessuchasdesignfor users’ experiences. To effectively manage knowledge in organisations, it is necessary thatweaddressmanyoftheseissues. KMO aims to encourage research into the various aspects of knowledge manage- menttoaddressmanyofthechallengesfacingorganisations.Theobjectiveistocreatea betterunderstandingofknowledgemanagementpractices,research,andpracticalappli- cations. To this end, KMO 2022 brought together leading academic researchers and researchscholarstoexchangeandsharetheirexperiencesandresearchfromallaspects ofknowledgemanagement.Italsoprovidedaninterdisciplinaryplatformforresearchers, practitioners,andeducatorstopresentanddiscusstheirmostrecentwork,trends,inno- vation,andconcernsaswellaspracticalchallengesencountered,andsolutionsadopted inthefieldofknowledgemanagementinorganisations.
