The organizersof the workshops have provided summaries and selected best papers of their workshops of which the revisedversionsare includedin these proceedings.Further, there were two tutorials:K4D:ManagingandSharingKnowledgeinRuralPartsoftheWorld,andLan- guageResourcesandLinkedData.Theworkshopandtutorialprogramswerechaired by Eva Blomqvist from Linköping University, Sweden, as well as Valentina Presutti fromSTLabISTC-CNR,Italy. This volume also contains the accepted contributions for the EKAW 2014 demo and poster session. We encouragedcontributionsthat were likely to stimulate critical orcontroversialdiscussionsaboutanyoftheareasoftheEKAWconferenceseries. We also invited developersto showcase their systems and the benefit they can bring to a particularapplication.ThedemoandposterprogramsofEKAW2014werechairedby GuilinQifromtheSoutheastUniversity,China, andUliSattlerfromtheUniversityof Manchester,UK. Further, the EKAW 2014 program included a Doctoral Consortium that provided PhDstudentsanopportunitytopresenttheirresearchideasandresultsinastimulating VI Preface environment, togetfeedbackfrommentorswhoareexperiencedresearchscientistsin thecommunity, toexploreissuesrelatedtoacademicandresearchcareers, andtobuild relationshipswithotherPhDstudentsfromaroundtheworld.TheDoctoralConsortium wasintendedforstudentsateachstageoftheirPhD.Allacceptedpapersareincluded in thisvolume.Thepresentershadanopportunitytopresenttheirworkto aninterna- tionalaudience, tobepairedwithamentor, andtodiscusstheirworkwithexperienced scientists from the research community. The Doctoral Consortium was organized by Ying Ding from the Indiana University Bloomington,USA, and Chiara Ghidini from TheFondazioneBrunoKesslerinItaly. The conference organization also included the Program Chairs Krzysztof Janowicz from the University of California, USA, and Stefan Schlobach from Vrije UniversiteitAmsterdam,TheNetherlands.Axel-CyrilleNgongaNgomofromtheUni- versität Leipzig, Germany, was the Sponsorship Chair.
