Therewasmuch in thewayoflifeoftheArabsthatcausedhimpain.Everywherearound himhesawsignsofdecay-in theinjusticedoneto thepoorandhelpless,in the unnecessarybloodshed,in thetreatment ofwomenwho wereconsidered asnobetterthan domesticanimals. He would bedeeplyanguishedwheneverheheard reportsofthelive burialofunwanted femalechildren. Certain clansoftheArabshad madeahorribleritualofthe killingofinfantdaughters.
