AutoVu Patroller QuickStart Guide For City Parking Enforcement Version 4.3 This QuickStart Guide assumes you are using the default settings in general, and have access to all of the applications features. Your particular AutoVu Patroller unit may be configured differently, and the features you have access to may differ. Contact your superiors for more infor- mation. 1 Welcome to AutoVu Patroller! AutoVu Patroller runs on a computer in your vehicle and is used to capture images of license plates and related data as you are on patrol, automatically registering different kind of infractions (referred to as hits) that can then be enforced. What can I do with AutoVu Patroller? What are some of the other more advanced things I can do with AutoVu Patroller? SEE PAGE 4. 2 Main Screen After starting up your vehicle, in most cases AutoVu Patroller is automatically initialized and the Main screen appears after you login. • You may have to open up the computer monitor. • In specialized cases, another screen may appear or the application may run without its user interface appearing initially. In each zone, you se- lect the corresponding rules to enforce by selecting either an overtime zone, a permit zone, or both, which have been predefined for the zone you are patrolling and automatically loaded onto your Patroller unit. • overtime ZoNeS: Indicate the duration vehicles can be parked in the zone. • permitS ZoNeS: Indicate the permit vehicles must have to be parked in the zone, or, if an overtime zone is also be- ing enforced, indicate vehicles with the correct permit are exempt from the overtime rules. All hotlists loaded onto the Patroller unit are automatically enforced. Select an over- time zone. and / or Select a permit zone. • If you do not select overtime or permit zones, then only hotlists are enforced, resulting in 1 or more hotlist hits per read if matched. • If you select an overtime zone, it is enforced along with hotlists, resulting in overtime and hotlist hits if criteria are met. • If you select a permit zone, it is enforced, along with hotlists, resulting in permit and hotlist hits if criteria are met. • If you select an overtime, and permit zone, the behavior changes: only overtime and hotlist hits may result: the permit zone serves to exempt vehicles on the associated permit list from being subject to the overtime rules, preventing them from receiving the over- time infraction. Each license license plate read may result in multiple hotlist hits as well as either an overtime or permit hit. You can also configure the Patroller to only register one hit per read, in which case, for example, once the hit registers as a permit hit, it will no longer be pro- 4 cessed against other types of hits or read in subsequent Patroller passes. Understand the Map The map on the Main screen follows your vehicle as you patrol the city. Read icons appear as the Patroller captures license plates, and are circled when a read Legend (Read and Hit icon shapes and colours can be changed from their defaults) becomes a hit according to the requirements of each type of hit: Your Patroller (insert image) • Hotlist Hit: The vehicle appears on any hotlist on your Patroller unit. Enforce Hits When a hit occurs, either the corresponding hits screen appears where you can: • See information about it. • Edit the license plate. • Accept and enforce it. Or you can access acumulated hits from the Hit button in the Main screen to perform the above steps. See page 3. The Permit Hit screen is similar to the Hotlist Hit screen. Shared Permit Hits The Overtime Hit screen is similar to the Hotlist and Permit Hit screens (See page 6) with some additions: • Each view is split presenting data from the first and second read that together define the hit. • You can click the Edit plate button (in the Image and Map views) to edit either the plate from from the first or sec- ond read, or both at the same time. 7 Page only for City Overtime Hits The Overtime Hit screen is similar to the Hotlist and Permit Hit screens (See page 6) with some additions: • Each view is split presenting data from the first and second read that together define the hit. • You can click the Edit plate button (in the Image and Map views) to edit either the plate from the first or second read, or both at the same time. • If you are using Wheel Imaging there is an additional Wheel view explained on this page. Time between reads is indicated, the zone that was enforced, and how many 8 overtime violations occurred. The zone can be configured to register multiple overtime violations: In this case the reads shown are always the last two. Review Reads and Hits Reads, as well as hits of all types, are stored in the Patroller for the current shift, and can be reviewed. To display the Review Reads or Hits screen, on the Main screen touch Options, then in the Options screen touch Review Read or Review Hits. In both review screens, you can scroll through all records (reads or hits) in the Patroller unit from the current shift: • Image and Map (and optionally Wheel) views are available. • You can print a Report of the read/hit. Touch on Options Screen The Review Reads screen displays the same information as in the If the read was taken while enforcing an overtime Main screen when the read was taken (See page 3). zone, when the vehicle was first and last seen, and Touch on Main Screen The Review Hits screen ressembles the Hit screen for the type of hit what zone was being enforced, is indicated. (See page 6-7), providing all of the same information. 9 You can reduce the set of reads to review by clicking Search plate and entering one or more characters of a plate. Only plates with the entered characters, in the order entered, are displayed. Click Search plate again to disable the filter.
