Jason made sure he had his extra power cord before placing his laptop into the carrying case. He checked for a few other things as well including his virus scanner – just in case-his brochure of all the graphics he had done previously and leather bound portfolio. He didn’t need the job since his parents had given him a trust fund that he could now spend as he pleased but they had conditions added it after he came out of the closet. They told him that if anyone in Bridgeport was ever to find out that he was gay, they would take back every scent. He didn’t know if legally they could do that since it was then fully in his name but his parents were powerful people, they’d find a way. Shaking his head, Jason stood up and slung the bag over his shoulder. He figured if his graphics business kept on going the way it was, in a year he wouldn’t need their money. He took pleasure in that thought – one day freedom. He placed a smile on his face and locked the door to his condo behind him before trotting to the elevator. He had been gay since high school that was when he had stop fighting it and bent Roger Turner over one of the bleachers and slammed into him from behind. That night as the moon rose higher and higher into the sky, he rode Roger hard and fast grunting as though his heart would give out. Roger was screaming, yelling, begging for more. Finally he slammed in to the hilt and exploded hard inside Roger’s body. He had then pulled out and staggered away, trying desperately to push his half aroused cock back into his pants. He was confused at the delicious feelings that surged through him. His toes had curled and his eyes rolled into his head. It was beautiful. 5 In The Closet Remmy Duchene The elevator pinged and he stepped out to be greeted by the doorman for the building. He offered a wave and slid through the lobby, down a long hall and into the underground parking garage. With care, he placed his tools of the trade into the back seat and was soon speeding from the garage into downtown Bridgeport. He was heading to a job that could make or break his career. He was asked to do a few samples of a cover for Bridgeport’s most eligible gay bachelor and New York Bestselling author Mark Spalding for his latest thriller. The man was a god when it came to twists and turns and espionage. He was so good that when his first book was released the media had him pegged as an ex spy. “Mark Spalding, super spy,” Jason laughed but suddenly felt nerves raking his insides. He was scared that this man won’t like what he had done so far. But he had made eight sample covers for the new book “Dark Inhibitions.” It was good considering he hadn’t read the story he had simply read a back blurb and an excerpt. Mark’s other works were a different story. After Jason found out that Mark was such a talented writer, he had gone out and bought a copy of each. Then he spent most of his time reading. He had to admit they were works of dark, mysterious, art. But the fact that Mark was a celebrity wasn’t the only reason to be freaked out – not by a long shot. The thing was, during high school at Bridgeport High, Jason was the bookworm and Mark was the athlete. They roamed on two different sides of the school tracks but Jason was quite happy with who he was. That was until the day he pulled his nose out of a book long enough to notice Mark. It was a day when Mark’s friends were making fun of Jason and he couldn’t take it anymore. He reached out and grabbed the nearest one – Mark – and slammed his back into a nearby locker a couple of times, “call me that again and I swear to god!” he growled. Mark hadn’t said 6 In The Closet Remmy Duchene anything. He had only got this dumb-ass smirk on his face. That irritated Jason and he release Mark and walked away with them hurling threats after him. At the large mansion he sat in the car longer than he had to. He was trying to get up enough courage and strength to ring the door bell. What would he tell Mark the celebrity that he had done with his life? He had gone to university, done Graphic Designs and Broadcasting. He had graduated Magna Kum Laudi with major honours but hadn’t really tried to find a job until he realized his parents were slowly sucking him dry and there was nothing he could do about it. Would he tell Mark that he was slowly dying inside with every passing day? He had slowly began withering away until someone called him up out of the blue asking him to do a design for their up-coming event. He couldn’t believe it but when the person told him that his professor had recommended Jason, Jason shrugged and got started. That led to Mark Spalding. He rubbed his eyes, grabbed his things and made his way to the front door. He rang the bell and dried his nervous palms against his thigh. When the door slid open Jason’s eyes bulged from his head. Jason had forgotten how beautiful Mark was – he had gotten even sexier. Mark now had broad shoulders, long black hair, deep greenish-blue eyes and tall. His proud nose and chin caused Jason to want to reach forward and kiss them ever so softly. He trailed is eyes down the author’s body, taking everything about him in. But when Jason looked up, Mark’s eyes had confusion and worry. Busted! He caught me staring. “You alright?” Mark wanted to know. Jason managed a nod and took Mark’s outstretched hand. “It’s good to see you again, Jason. Come on in.” “Good to see you too,” Jason managed after clearing his throat. “Come on in.” 7 In The Closet Remmy Duchene He stepped by Mark and into the lobby of the large house. When the door closed behind him, he jerked around. “You sure you’re alright?” Mark pushed. “You seem a tad jumpy.” “I’m sure. It’s not every day a bestselling author and celebrity invites you to his house,” Jason covered. “It’s a little much, that’s all.” Mark laughed, “oh come off it, Jay. We’ve know each other long enough to be considered a married couple.” Jason sucked in some air. To be married to Mark Spalding would probably be wonderful. He could imagine Mark’s large hands caressing his body, slowly at first them rough. He could see himself sinking deep within the author’s body while they wrestled against the bed for position then have Mark slam into him from behind. He bit back a moan and turned his eyes away. He pretended to be looking around him but in truth he was scared Mark would see the images in his head. Mark was severely out of Jason’s league. It had been years since Jason felt like an awkward nerd but the moment he touched Mark the old feelings from high school came rushing back with a vengeance. He had left them for dead on the stage as he collected his high school diploma. Jason had gone straight to the mall afterwards. He had gotten a hair cut, got rid of the baggy clothes for a more adult look. But he hadn’t seen Mark again until years later on television promoting his work. …or was it when they made his first book into a movie? Jason couldn’t remember. “Alright, come this way,” Mark was speaking again. He led Jason through the house to a beautiful library where there were two computers and a laptop. There were books around against the walls and on a second level that one could access with a ladder. On the second floor a balcony went straight around the upper level and all the books up there seemed expensive. 8 In The Closet Remmy Duchene “Look at all these books. I could live in here,” Jason laughed. He loved reading. “I know,” Mark’s voice was a whisper. “I remember you being in the library so much that we wondered if you had a home.” “You remembered that?” Jason placed his bag on the desk closest to him. “Of course.” Jason glanced up and his eyes locked with Mark for a brief moment. He cleared his throat and powered on his computer. He sat down in a leather chair and watched while the graphics danced onto the screen, “ah, grab a chair, I need to show you these. I read the back blurb from your website and from what you sent me I whipped some stuff up for you to see.” He felt it the moment Mark bent over his shoulder for Mark smelt of cool water after shave and heat. Jason’s body trembled but he forced himself to focus. “This – This is the first cover,” he explained. “I haven’t read the book but from what your other covers looked like, I deduced that you wouldn’t want the same old.” “Hrm,” Mark mused. “I love the reds but the fonts look a little too…romantic for the kind of book Dark Inhibitions is.” “Ok,” Jason pulled up a second. “How about this one?” There was silence and Jason hated that. Silence is the devil’s playground. It was silent when Jason Higgins took Roger Turner against the bleachers. “Ok, could you switch this picture, with that one? And use the second set of fonts for it? That would look perfect.” Jason grinned knowingly and pulled up the third cover. 9 In The Closet Remmy Duchene “Oh! Perfect! You really are good at this!” “I do try,” Jason laughed. “Tell you what. I know this isn’t part of our deal but could you do the whole promotional thing for the book? My publisher won’t like it but if they want another bestseller from me they’ll get used to it. I just have to show them that hiring you to be my personal graphics guru is in their best interest. Do you do websites?” “Yah but wait a minute,” Jason held up a hand. “Are you sure? I mean I don’t know how good I am at this kind of promotional stuff.” “It’s simple. All you have to do is put your god-esque graphic abilities to work. Posters, business cards, extra copies of the cover for signings, the website – I’ll pay you ten thousand plus royalties from every copy of the poster sold.” “It’s not about the money.” “I forgot. You’re already wealthy in your own right.” “With conditions. But it’s a long and annoying story. I just, this is a little bit much.” “Ok, so take some time and think about it. I can wait. Dark Inhibitions isn’t due to be released for another six months so we got all the time in the world.” Jason chuckled, “you mean about a few days don’t you? Because once they accept this cover this book is off to a stampede of a start.” *** Mark was stunned when he demanded a new graphic designer from his publisher and Jason’s name came across in the pile. True he hadn’t seen Jason for over fifteen years but that was beside the point. The point was Jason was sexy as hell from high school and because Mark was a part of the popular kids he didn’t speak to Jason - much. Jason was the book nerd whom he secretly 10 In The Closet Remmy Duchene wanted to take home. But Mark knew better. His friends wouldn’t have understood the fact that he would rather fuck a boy than a girl and his parents would definitely not get it. He had pretended, gone through the motions, dated Ariella Clemons as though they would get married but with her it was just sex. He never felt any connections with her. During their love-making he would pretend she was Jason. When he came out to her just before college she had confessed that she didn’t mind he was seeing someone else for he had given her some of the best sex she thought she’d ever get. Irony. Mark absolutely loved the cover Jason had picked. It was dark, sexy, mysterious all at the same time. But he was disappointed that Jason was going to be in and out of his life, just like that. He knew Jason was gay because of one night just before graduation. They had just lost a championship game to another school and after all the others had gone home he stayed behind to sulk. He sat in the darkest part underneath the bleachers and frowned. He didn’t feel like going home to explain to his father why he lost the game for his school. There he sat in the darkness wondering why he even bothered when a commotion happened just before him. He froze, afraid to move just in case they saw him.. He looked out to where the moonlight kissed the earth through the seats, Jason and a kid from the other football team. Everything happened so fast because in a split second Roger had grabbed the back of Jason’s neck and kissed him roughly. That must have angered Jason for he simply grabbed Roger, twisted him and yank his track pants down. They hit the bleachers while Jason was spitting against his hand. In his shock, he watched Jason sent his hard cock between Roger’s cheeks. The other school’s football captain howled in pleasure then began riding backwards against Jason. That night had left Mark’s mouth watering. Whenever he saw Jason in the halls images of that night flashed through his mind. He wanted to be held
