ANDHRA PRADESH JUDICIAL SERVICE
Eligibility criteria - LL.B.
Age Limit - Not more than 35 years
(For SC/ST - 5 years relaxation)
SCHEME OF EXAMINATION
The examination shall be conducted in three stages namely-
1.  Preliminary Examination (Objective type)
2.  Main Written Examination (Subjective type) (80 Marks)
3.  Viva-Voce (20 Marks)
MAIN WRITTEN EXAMINATION
(i) Civil Law
(ii) Criminal Law
Syllabus:
The questions will be asked from following subjects
(a)  The Evidence Act, 1872
(b)  The Criminal Procedure Code, 1973
(c)  Rules of Practice (Criminal)
(d)  The Indian Penal Code, 1860
(e)  The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908
(f)  Rules of Practice (Civil);
(g)  The Law of Limitation;
(h)  The Law of Property with reference to the Transfer of Property Act,
Specific Relief Act and Easement Act;
(i) The Law of Contracts including the Negotiable Instruments Act;
(j) Hindu Marriage Act;
(k) Hindu Succession Act;
(l) Indian Stamp Act;
(m) Protection of women from Domestic violence Act;
(n) Registration Act;
(o) A.P. Building (Lease, Rent & Eviction) Contract Act;

Note :
I. The candidates belonging to ST/SC/OBC who secure at least 25/35/40
percent respectively of the marks in each paper shall alone be eligible
for admission to the Interviews.
II. MERIT LIST : The High Court shall reserve the discretion to summon such
number of successful candidates in written examination for each
vacancy from the top of the merit list for interview, as it deems fit.
III. Text Books or any other material will not be allowed to the examination
hall for written and oral Examination.
INTERVIEW
In the interview, the academic knowledge of a candidate, his communication
skills, his tact and ability to handle various situations in the Court, will be
tested.

ASSAM JUDICIAL SERVICE

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION
The Examination will be held in three stages:
(I) Preliminary Examination
(II) Mains Written Examination
(III) Interview
PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION
The Preliminary Examination (Screening Test) shall consist of the Objective
type questions of 100 marks out of which 90 marks will cover General
Knowledge, Aptitude, English, Constitution of India, Code of Civil Procedure,
Criminal Procedure Code, Transfer of Property Act, Indian Contract Act, Indian
Penal Code, Indian Evidence Act, Law of Torts and remaining 10 marks to test
the proficiency in the official language (s) of the State of Assam.
MAIN WRITTEN TEST/EXAMINATION
1. Paper I on English: Essay writing, Precise writing, Grammar etc.
100 Marks
2. Paper II on General Knowledge: Objective type, Aptitude test. 100 Marks
3. Law Paper-I: Constitution of India, Code of Civil Procedure, Transfer of
Property Act, Indian Contract Act. 100 Marks
4. Law Paper-II: Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Indian
Evidence Act, Law of Torts. 100 Marks
5. Paper to test proficiency of the candidate in the official language (s) of
the State of Assam. 50 Marks
Note: (The candidate is expected to refer to the relevant decisions of the Apex
Court and the High Court while writing answers in Paper- II and III)
VIVA-VOCE
The candidate who qualify the Main Written Examination will be required to
appear at such place as may be fixed by the comission for viva-voce. The
maximum marks for viva-voce shall be 50.

BIHAR JUDICIAL SERVICE
Eligibility Criteria - LL.B.
Age Limit - 22 - 35 years
(For SC/ST - 5 years relaxation)
SCHEME OF EXAMINATION
The Examination will be held in three stages:
(I) Preliminary Examination (Objective)
(II) Mains Written Examination
(III) Personality Test (Interview)
PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION
It will consist of two papers :
First Paper : (100 Marks)
(i) General Knowledge
(ii) General Science
Second Paper : (150 Marks)
(i) Law of Evidence and Procedure
(ii) Constitutional & Administrative Law of India
(iii) Hindu Law and Mohammedan Law
(iv) Transfer of Property Act, Principles of Equity, Law of Trust and Specific
Relief Act.
(v) Law of Contract and Torts
(vi) Commercial Law :
(a) Sale of Goods Act (b) Negotiable Instruments Act
(c) Company Law (d) Partnership Act
MAINS WRITTEN EXAMINATION
A. Compulsory Papers
1. General Knowledge including current affairs 150 Marks
2. Elementary General Science 100 Marks
3. General Hindi 100 Marks
4. General English 100 Marks

5. Law of Evidence & Procedure 150 Marks
(i) Indian Evidence Act, 1872
(ii) Civil Procedure Code, 1908
(iii) Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996.
(iv) Criminal Procedure Code, 1973
(v) Provincial Small Causes Courts Act, 1888.
Note : Hindi and English is only of qualifying nature.  Each candidate must
score minimum of 30 marks out of 100 but the marks obtained in this will not
be added in the overall total in deciding the merit.
B. Optional Papers (3 Papers to be chosen) 150 Marks
1. Constitutional Law of India and England
Constitutional Law of India
(i) Government of India Act, 1935
(ii) Indian independence Act,  1947
(iii) Constitution of India.
Administrative Law of India
(i) Definition of Administrative Law
(ii) Nature and scop of Administrative Law
(iii) Principles of natural justice - Emerging trends and judicial ap-
proach.
(iv) Delgated legislation and its constitutionality.
(v) Separation of powers and constitutional governance.
(vi) Judicial review of administrative action.
(vii) Ombudsman: Lokayukta, Lokpal etc.
2. Hindu Law and Mohammedan Law 150 Marks
(i) Sources;
(ii) Different branches
3. Transfer of Property Act
(i) Principle of Equity;
(ii) Law of Trust;
(iii) Specific Relief Act.

4. Indian Contract Act and Law of Torts 150 Marks
5. Commercial Law 150 Marks
(i) Sales of Goods Act, 1930;
(ii) Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881;
(iii) Company Law;
(iv) Indian Partnership Act, 1932.
VIVA-VOCE (INTERVIEW)
Candidates qualified in written examination shall appear for viva-voce.
Viva-Voce (Interview) shall be of 100 marks.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION
1. Online Preliminary Examination (Objective)

3. Viva-Voce
ONLINE PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION
(No. of Question – 100,   Time – 2:00 Hour,   Marks – 100)
The Online Preliminary Examination shall be of the duration of two hours
consisting of 100 objective type questions from the following:
1. Indian Penal Code
2. Code of Civil Procedure
3. Code of Criminal Procedure
4. Indian Evidence Act
5. Constitution of India
6. Transfer of Property Act
7. Contract Act
8. Limitation Act
9. The Chhattisgarh Rent Control Act, 2011
10. Court Fees Act
11. Specific Relief Act
12. Registration Act
13. Chhattisgarh Land Revenue Code.
14. The Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881
15. The Chhattisgarh Excise Act, 1915

MAINS EXAMINATION (WRITTEN)
(Time – 3:00 Hour,   Marks – 100)
For Main Examination, the relatively more meritoriouscandidates from among
those who appeared in the Preliminary Examination in the ratio of 1:10 having
regard to the number of vacancies shall be called for final Examination to be
conducted which shall consist of:
(i) Framing of issues and writing of Judgment in Civil Cases (M.M. - 40)
(ii) Framing of charges and writing of Judgment in Criminal
Cases (M.M. - 40)
(iii)Translation:
(1) English to Hindi (M.M. - 10)
(2) Hindi to English (M.M. - 10)
VIVA-VOCE
Having regard to the number of vacancies, relatively more meritorious
candidates from among those who appeared in the Main Examination shall
be called in the ratio of 1:3 for the viva-voce. The maximum marks for viva-
voce would be 15.
