This book is not a commentaryl Those who wish to use it as such
may nevertheless find much to their liking. This book isa thoroughly
revised version of my 1995 PhD-thesis Oordeel en Heil. Een onderzoek
naarsamenhangtussen deheils- en onheilsprofetieen inMicha 2-5, which was
a study into the relationship between the Oracles of Hope and the
Oracles of Doom. In the end the revision yielded a fresh presenta
tion of the previous research on the composition and redaction of
the Book of Micah and a new picture of the redaction history of
the book.
First of all, I would like to thank my supervisor Bob Becking
(Utrccht University) for his guidance in the initial stages of the work
as well as his support in the preparation of this revision. Secondly,
I would like to express my thanks to Marvin Sweeney (Claremont
School of Theology), who stimulated me to undertake this transla
