SMITH For the English translation, we have preserved the neologism that introduces Jude´ite´s: Questions pour Jacques Derrida. As Raphael Za- gury-Orly and Joseph Cohen, the colloquium organizers, pointed out, jude´ite´s refers to the multiplicity of ways of being and writing ‘‘jewishly,’’ or as a Jew: Judaism and Jewishness, today, in the di- versityoftheirmultipleinterpretations,languages,nationalities,phi- losophies, and literatures. Judeities unravels identifications, although identification is not itself a simple, or fully conscious, decision. As Derrida argues, being Jewish and Jewish-being entails ‘‘being’’ more and less than Jewish, something outside authentic-inauthentic binaries;inshort,anideal,a critique;aboveallaquestion. Thetranslationsinthisvolumewereproofedandeditedjointly,as were ‘‘Jacques Derrida and Kabbalistic Sources’’ and ‘‘How to An- swertheEthicalQuestion,’’essayspresentedtousinanEnglishver- sion. This distinctly enhanced the quality of the work and promoted terminological consistency. Michael B.
