CALLING THE ROLL In the absence of President Harry G. Britt, the meeting was called to order at 2:05 p.m. by the Clerk. On call of the roll, the following Supervisors were noted present: Supervisors Alioto, Gonzalez, Hallinan, Hsieh, Nelder, Walker - 6. Noted absent at first roll call: Supervisors Britt, Hongisto, Kennedy, Maher, Ward - 5. Quorum present. Supervisor Britt excused, (See infra.) Supervisor Hongisto was noted present at 2:14 p.m. Supervisor Kennedy was noted present at 2:11 p.m. Supervisor Maher was noted present at 2:07 p.m. Supervisor Ward was noted present at 2:18 p.m. Election of President Pro Tempore Following roll call of attendance by the Clerk, Supervisor Nelder, seconded by Supervisor Walker, moved that Supervisor Alioto be appointed President Pro Tempore. Motion adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Supervisors Alioto, Gonzalez, Hallinan, Hsieh, Nelder, Walker - 6. Absent: Supervisors Britt, Hongisto, Kennedy, Maher, Ward - 5. Supervisor Alioto thereupon assumed the Chair. -1- 1 3.1014 BuF. ECONOMY JR 105SF 6/93 390 Monday, January 7, 1991 Supervisor Britt Excused The Clerk announced that President Britt requested to be excused from attending today's meeting. Supervisor Walker, seconded by Supervisor Nelder, moved to excuse Supervisor Britt. Motion adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Supervisors Alioto, Gonzalez, Hallinan, Hsieh, Nelder, Walker - 6. Absent: Supervisors Britt, Hongisto, Kennedy, Maher, Ward - 5. APPROVAL OF JOURNAL There being no errors, corrections or omissions. Supervisor Walker, seconded by Supervisor Maher, moved that the Journal of Proceedings for Monday, June 25, 1990 be approved. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Supervisors Alioto, Gonzalez, Hallinan, Hsieh, Kennedy, Maher, Nelder, Walker - 8. Absent: Supervisors Britt, Hongisto, Ward - 3. Remarks From Mayor Concerning Three Departing Supervisors Mayor Art Agnos appeared and gave a brief message expressing the City's gratitude and appreciation for the combined 31 years of public service beginning on January 8, 1980 with Supervisor Nancy G. Walker and later joined by Supervisors Richard Hongisto and Wendy Nelder. The Mayor reviewed some of the unprecedented legislation enacted by this Board during their tenure; such as, high rise development fee for child care, affordable housing, transit, open space and public art; neighborhood re-zoning ordinance. South of Market zoning matters, comparable worth, minority business/women business/local business enterprise ordinance, curbs, domestic partners,, residential hotel ordinance, children amendment, and video display terminal legislation. Office of Citizens Complaints, limits on condominium conversion, and the landmark smoking law by Supervisor Nelder, creation of health commission by Supervisor Walker and preservation of housing in the Richmond/Sunset Districts by Supervisor Hongisto. Mayor Agnos commended Supervisors Walker, Hongisto and Nelder for their success in fulfilling their oath of office and presented each one with a key to the City. -2- Monday, January 7, 1991 T) DOCUMENTS DKPT. [Government Funding] Ordinance appropriating $658,386, Water Department, for temporary salaries, overtime, related mandatory fringe benefits, data processing/word processing professional services, vehicle rental, travel, postage, printing, other current services, forms, plumbing supplies, payment to other governments and services of other departments - miscellaneous departments, placing on reserve $272,106 as recommended by the Mayor's Office. Passed for Second Reading [Cellular Telephone System Site, Lease Agreement] Ordinance authorizing a negotiated lease agreement between the City and County and Bay Area Cellular Telephone Company for certain space located at the Southeast Water Pollution Control Plant at 1701 Jerrold Avenue.
