INTRODUCTION: BELIEF IN THE UNSEEN

All praises belong to Allah alone. And may the Salat and
Solaam of Allah be upon the one whom there is no Prophet
after him,

As tu what follows: Verily, Allah, the Blessed and Exalled
has created all the worlds; the upper and lower worlds and
‘whal is in-botyyeen; the knovsledge of which is onfy known
to Allah, the Blessed and Exalted. Allah has made some of
these worlds hidden. No one knows their reality execpt for
Allah, the One who crested them; and He is the Glorified
and the Exatted. Allah, the Palted, commandecl v6, as His
servants, to believe in the Unegen which Allah stipulated as
fan azticle of faith, But there has come concerning the affairs
of the Unseen, information from the Messenger of Allah,
peace be upon him.

Having faith in the Unseen is from the foremast altibutes of
a rightonns person ng Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, clavifiew
within Tlig Great Book:

‘Thas, Allah, the Blessed ane! Hxalted, has made belief in the
Unseen a solid foundation; because Allah, the Blessed and
Exalted, Himself is Unseen,

No vision can grayp Tlim, but His grasp is over all
The eyes will not ace Him in this world, but only the
believers will enjay looking at His Face in paradise. As for
this world, then Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, is not
grasped by vision and eyes do not soe Him. ‘Thus, Allah, the
Blessed andl Txalted, is Unseon and Allah has made Tis
paradise and His fire Unseen, The eyes do not see them in
lhis werldly life, Likewise, as it relatos to the: world of the
unique Angels and the world of the evil devils and the Jinn,
Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, and made them from the
sworld of the Unseen which no one knows abuut exenpt for
Him. He rovaoted some reports about the reality of these
worlds to our Prophet, peace be upon him,

Bolle in the worlds of finn and devils is from the
foundations of faith. These alfains have been infiltrated with
delusions and fantusy. The reality iv the Jinn are an
independent world separate frons that of the humans and
the world of the Angdls. There are some qualities which are
shared between humans and Jinn, such as the foculties of
Intellect and perception, choice-making and responsibility.

But the Jinn for from humans in some respects; from the
most important of them is they differ in their substance of
creation. Thurnans have been given mandates and feewill 49

WHY ARE THEY CALLED JINN?

Ihe linguistic origin of the word ‘finn! in Arabic originally
‘means canvaatment because they were made hiuiden from our
sight. And insanily is called insanity because it covers the
intellect. ‘The person who is Majncon i called such because
is intellect is engered,

‘The: Arabic nquivalents of words like Jism, fetus (Jandy), zomor
Gijon}, and insanity (Jew) share one common linguistic
origin, which is concealment as they all cover something
underoath

For this reason, Allah, the Blasced and Hxalted, said

THE CREATION OF THE JINN

‘As for the origin af the Jinn from which they were created,
we have been informed about this from our Lord, the
Blessed and xalted, in Ilis great Book, Allah, the All.
Mighty, says:

And the Jina, We ereated aforetime from the
smokeless flame of fire.

And the Exalted said

‘And He created the Jina from the tip af the Alame’s

fire.
‘Iho word Many as it wate to the fre, isthe Up of the
‘dame. When the fins ignited, the portion ofthe flame at the
very top is called Muri. Allsh, the Blessed and Exalted,
‘created the Jinm from the tip of the flame. ‘This is the: origin
from which Allah created the Jinn, just as Hie event Adam
from dust

were created from smokeless fire, and Adam was
created from that which has been deseribed to you.*

“Thus, man was erated from dust, As for the Jinn, thelr

informed us.

Allah crated the Jinn bofore He created mankind. When
Allah created Adan and populated earth with his offepring,
the Jinn were already prevent, Allaly the Blessed and
Fralted, said concerning this

And indeed, We ercated man from sounding clay of
altered black smooth mud, And the Jinn, We created
aforetimte from the stokeless {lame of fire.”

‘the Jom were created before mankind, He said: “And the
Jinn, We created aforelime from the smokeless flame of fire.”
‘Thus, the verse states thal Jim were created before mankind,
Some of the scholars say the Juin were present one thonsand
