Watermonitors arefixed onthe fire fighting appliances andareoneofthe important equipment used for fighting fire. Whh the help of this equipment it is possible to direct the flow of water at any angle on horizontal and vertical axis. This standard has been formulated tolay down minimum performance requirements. When the water monitor is used with sea water, aluminium parts should not be used. This standard wasfirstpublished in 1977.The present revision includes modifications with regard toinclusion of copperalloyandstainless steelcomponents andfigureshavebeenmodified according tovarious typesofmonitors. The materials ofconstruction are given inTable 2with anidea to usecompatible material for allcomponents in individual monitor. For the purpose of deciding whether aparticular requirement of this standard iscomplied with, the final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall be roundedoffinaccordancewith IS2:1960 ‘Rules for rounding off numerical values (revised)’. The number of significant places retained inthe rounded off vafue should be the same asthat of the specified value inthis standard.
