Thoughnaturalgypsum hasbeen mostlyused in the manufacture of gypsumboards,by-productgypsumafter suitabletreatmentif required, isalsoequallysuitableformanufacturingsuchboards. Gypsumboardsmaybemanufacturedasplain,coatedllaminatedandreinforcedboards. Theboardsmaybeused toprovidedry liningfinishestomasonrywalls,toceilings.tosteelortimberframe partitions,orasceilingstostructuralsteelcolumnsandbeams,orinthemanufactureofprefabricatedpartition panels. Plainboardsthatisgypsumplasterboardscompriseofagypsumplastercorewithorwithoutfibreincasedinand firmlybondedtostrongpaperlinerstoformrectangularboards.Thesegypsumboardsareusedaswallboards and base boards with improvedwater-resistance and core cohesionat elevatedtemperatures. The coated! laminatedboardsalsocharacterizedbygypsumplasterand namely, wastepaperfibre,sisalcoirglass,etc, producedbypressingtoformboardofsurfacesuitableforlaminationorpapering. TheECOMarkshallbe administeredby the Bureau ofIndianStandardsundertheSISAct, 1986aspertheResolutionNo.7Jdated 21February1991publishedintheGazetteoftheGovernmentofIndia.ForaproducttobeeligibleforECOMark, it shallalsocarry theStandardMarkof theBIS besides meetingadditionaloptionalenvironmentfriendly requirements.
