(ET32) ReprographyUnit,BIS.NewDelhi.India Electrical Appliances Sectional Committee, ETD 32 FOREWORD This Indian Standard was adopted by the Bureau ofindian Standards, after the draft finalized by the Electrical Appliances Sectional Committee had been approved by the Electrotechnical Division Council. This standard covers the general, safety and performances requirements of Stationary Storage Type Electric Water Heater. The standard was originally published in 1962. The first revision was made in 1965, second in 1978 and third revision was brought out in 1985. " Asper the decision of the third meeting of the Electrotechnical Division Council, separate safety standard on stationary storage type electric water heater has been brought out. In the fourth revision ofthis composite standard instead of giving details of safety requirements, reference has been made to safety standard IS 302-2~21 ( 1992). The purpose of this standard is to state and define the principal performances characteristics of stationary storagetype electric water heaterfor household and similar which are of interest to the use and to describe the standard methods for measuring their characteristics, while this standard covers the safety requirements, the details of safety requirements are given in a separate standard IS 302-2-21 ( 1992) 'Safetyrequirements for household and similar electrical appliances: Part 2Particular requirements, Section 21 Stationary storage type electric water heater'. While preparing this standard assistance has been derived from IEC Pub 379 (1982) 'Methods ofmeasuringtheperformancesofwater heatersfor house hold purpose' issued"bythe International Electrotechnical Commission. For the purpose ofdeciding whether a particular requirement ofthis standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated, expressing the results of a test shall be rounded off in accordance with IS 2 : 1960'Rulesfor rounding off numerical values (revised y. The number of significant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.
