Kuntze, for preparation of abeverage. and the same are available Inavariety of forms. Some incorporate in their formulation flavoring materials which are not normally present ]n tea, such as lemon, mint, jasmine, etc and significant quantities of non-tea carbohydrates. Most instant tea is producecl in solid form but current production also includes other types of instant tea such as liquid tea concentrates and semi-solid frozen products (slushes). Specifications for the other types of instant tea will be prepared when need arises. The objects of this standard are to specify the plant source from which instant tea isto be manufactured and to set requirements for certain chemical characteristics which, if met, are an indication that the instant tea has been subjected to recognized good production practice. 1n the preparation of this standard, due consideration has been, given to the Prevention of Food Adu/teratiotl ,1c(, 1954 and the Rules framed thereunder and the Standards of Weights and Measures (Packaged C’omtnodities) Ri[le,i. 1977. The standard is, however, subject to the restrictions imposed under these, wherever applicable. For the purpose of deciding whether aparticular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result ofatest oranalysis, shall be rounded off inaccordance with 1S2: 1960 ‘Rules for rounding off numerical values (revised)’. The number of significant places retained in the rounded off ~’alue should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard. This standard prescribes the requirements, methods of test and sampling for instant tea in solid form. 4.1.2 The instant tea may contain permitted food additives and permitted processed aids as given in 2 REFERENCES Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954.
