Micro sprayers are now increasingly used for irrigation purpose. A need was therefore felt to prepare a specificationfor microsprayerfor producingquality productbythe manufacturerand for selectingappropriate microsprayers by the user. In the preparationofthis standardconsiderableassistancehas beenderivedfrom ISO8026: 1995 'Agricultural irrigation equipment- Sprayers- General requirements and test methods', published by the International Organizationfor Standardization. This standarddeviatesfrom ISO8026: 1995on the following points: a) Temperaturefor various tests has beenchangedfrom 2SoC±SoCto27°C±2°C. b) Minimum torque for testing the resistanceofthreadedconnectionshas been reduced from 7N-mto 4 N-m as committeefelt that 7N-misdifficulttoachievefor plastic materialsavailable in the country. c) Test ofresistance to hydrostatic pressure at high temperature and that for trajectory height has been excludeddueto problemsin testing.
