In fluid power systems, power is transmitted and controlled through a fluid (liquid or gas) under pressure within a circuit. Systems and components are generally designed and marketed for a specific fluid pressure. Components are interconnected through their ports and associated fluid connector fitting ends. While preparing this standard considerable assistance has been taken from IS0 4399 : 1977 ‘Fluid Power Systems and Components Connectors and Associated Components - Nominal Pressures’. This standard is technically equivalent to above IS0 standard. IS 14423 : 1997 Indian Standard FLUID POWER SYSTEMS AND COMPONENTS - CONNECTORS AND ASSOCIATED COMPONENTS - NOMINAL PRESSURES 1 SCOPE between bar, Pa and N/m2 are given below : lbar = lOOkPa This Indian Standard prescribes nominal pressures for hydraulic and pneumatic fluid power connectors and 1Pa = lN/mZ associated components. 4.2 When no modifier is used the nominal pressure 2 ICES shall be assumed as gauge pressure ( that is, pressure above atmospheric pressure ). 2.1 The following standards contain provisions which through reference in this text, constitute provisions of 4.3 In .case any-other pressure is required the same this standard.
