ThiSstandardwas first publishedIn 1993based ontheearlierversionofthe InternationalStandard, namely,
ISO763:1982underdual numbering.Thelirstrevisionofthisstandardisbeingbroughtabouttoalign itwith
the latest editionofISO 763 :2003underdual numbering.
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without
deviations. Certainconventionsare,however, not identicalto thoseused in Indian Standards, Attention is
particularlydrawntothe following:

1 Scope
This International Standard specifies a method for the determination of the hydrochlonc-aod·,nsoluble ash

The method serves for the determination of sihceous impurities.together with the silICa endogenous to the
plant

2 Principle
A test portion IS incinerated at approximately 525'C and the minerai matter Insoluble In dilute hydrochlonc
acidISseparated
3 Reagents
Use only reagents of recognized analytical grade.unless otherwise Specified. and distilled or demineralized
waterorwaterofequivalentpunty.
3.1 Hydrochloricacid,10%(bymass) solution

Allow frozen ordeep-frozenproducts tothaw inadosedvessel and add the liquidformed during this process
to the product before mixing. Before taking the test portion, thcroughly mix the laboratory sample using. if

7 Procedure
7.1 Preparation offirstdish
Heat an empty dish (46) In the furnace (42) set at the incineration temperature. Allow it to cool In the

7.2 Test portion
Weigh.to the nearest 0.01g,in the previously prepared dish (7.1).49 to 25 g of the test sample (Clause6)
according to the water content of the product For liquid products. the test portion may be taken by volume

7.3 Determination
7.3.1 Drying
