Description:This text is designed for an introductory course in basic concepts and applications of the Motorola 8 bit and 16 bit 68000 microprocessors. There is abundant material on general concepts of the 6800 microprocessor and additional coverage of the 68000 microprocessor which provides an introduction to this more advanced chip as well as providing the basis for further study. The in-depth discussion of one major group of microprocessor chips - the Motorola 6800/68000 - allows introductory micro students to first learn fundamentals on the relatively simple 6800 chip and then transfer these skills to the state-of-the-art 68000 chip. The presentation of the software aspects of the 6800/68000 is at an appropriate level, yet is far more extensive than is usually found in an introductory book. This book should be of interest to second year degree and diploma students taking introductory microprocessor courses in departments of engineering and computer science.
