Preview International Law

Description:
"International Law" is an introductory text for students of contemporary public international law. This, the fourth edition, retains the format and style of its predecessors. The topics covered reflect the syllabus of a typical undergraduate public international law course. However, although "International Law" is designed as a stand alone text, it may be used as a narrative companion to a source book such as "Harris: Cases and Materials on International Law". The author highlights the different concepts of international law and describes the substantive procedural principles which are necessary for a proper understanding of the international legal process. The position of international law within municipal legal systems is expounded and salient differences of approach are highlighted. Throughout the text contemporary international developments have been incorporated where appropriate. These include inter alia: the establishment of the International Criminal Court; the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea; and the Draft Articles for State Responsibility for Internationally Wrongful Acts. Although primarily designed for students taking international law, the text is suited for a wider readership including students of international politics, international relations and human rights, practitioners confronted with problems with an international dimension, and anyone with an interest in the contemporary international community.
