Description: Surely one of the fundamental duties and
joys of being Christians is to bear one another's
burdens in prayer, and come in the Spirit of
Christ before God our Father, as we plead for
the Church and for the world.
Such prayer must involve both the mind
and the imagination. To pray effectively we.
need to stand alongside those for whom we
plead. We need to appreciate their hurt and
distress, share their anguish, and bring them
with us to the healing love of God. The whole
Church of Christ, praying like this, releases an
immense fund of loving power. It enables the
creative love of God to renew, energise, restore
and bring to wholeness both the Church and
the world.
The Intercessions I have suggested flow
out of the theme for the day and the readings,
so that they will be in harmony with the
thoughts and ideas already suggested on any
particular day.®
