Megaliths at Stonehenge and Nabta Playa indicate a complex knowledge of geometry and astronomy, and possibly even the fundamentals of a solar calendar IV. MESOPOTAMIA: THE FIRST CIVILIZATION A. The Geography of Mesopotamia 1. Civilization can be described as a culture that has attained a degree of complexity a. Sustains specialists to deal with political, social, religious needs b.
