Position Platforms • Position one Platform, centerline facing inward, on end of bay unit Lower Platform against Installation Flanges. Scribed Line • Align centerline of Platform with center mark on unit. • Fasten Platform to ends of center Upper Platform unit(s) along scribed line using two Interior Side Up #8 x 1-1/2" flat head wood screws. Fasten Platforms Head Board Upper Platform Head Clamp • Lift up on sill of one of Flanking Seat Board Units until it fits tightly against Seat Board. Drill a 3/8" hole through Platforms and Head/Seat Boards at all Joining Post locations before proceeding to Step 12. 12. Remove Head and Seat Boards • Label Head and Seat Boards for later reinstallation. Seat Board • Remove clamps holding Head and Seat Boards to Platforms. • Carefully remove and repackage Head and Seat Boards for shipment to installation site. Replace Inside Stops Head Stop (Reinstall Second) Side Stop (Reinstall First) When reapplying side Inside Stop on the lock side of tandem lock Casement Units, nail through Head existing holes. Failure to do so could result in damage to underlying lock mechanism. Side Stop (Reinstall First) Sill Stop • Position side Inside Stops first, then head and sill (Reinstall Inside Stops in frame groove and reapply by tacking Second) into place using 4d (1-1/2") finishing nails. Leave Interior Side Up approximately 1/8" of nail head exposed to assist in removal of Inside Stops for finishing. Sill Note: Unit not shown in bay configuration for clarity. 14. Apply Cross Bracing and Skids 1 x 4 Cross Bracing • Cut and fasten two 2 x 4 skids to Lower Platform using #8 x 2" screws for transporting unit. Make sure skid 5" 5" closest to interior is at least 5" from interior edge of Lower Platform. • Fasten 1 x 4 cross braces with screws to the corners of platforms at a diagonal as shown. 2 x 4 Skids Interior Side Up 15. For 30° Bay Units, cut 15° miter. For 45° Bay Units, cut 22-1/2° miter. Cut ends of Auxiliary Casing for outermost Flanking Units flush with outside edge of Flanking Unit and parallel to Platform as shown. • Predrill Auxiliary Casing using a 1/8" Auxiliary Casing drill bit 1-1/4" deep, spacing holes Applied Sealant every 8" to 12" inches. • Apply sealant between Auxiliary Casing and units and at all mitered ends of Sill Exterior Side Up Auxiliary Casing. 1-1/2" Flat Head • Fasten Auxiliary Casing through Wood Screws predrilled holes using corrosion resistant 1-1/2" flat head wood screws. Auxiliary Sealant Casing • Remove excess sealant squeeze out on units or Auxiliary Casing using a soft Platform Head Jamb rag. Cross Section Detail - Horizontal 17. Prepare Unit for Transport Projecting unit must be supported at all times until fully fastened into opening to prevent tipping. Failure to do so could result in severe personal injury, product and/or product property. • Carefully stand unit upright on sill end.
