Studentsrealizeveryearly,thatplasticsurgeryhasmuchmoretooffer:wetreat babiesandoldpatients,fromheadtotoe,withavarietyofsophisticatedtechniques, withthechallengeofmicrosurgerytoppingthelist.Creativityisanintegralpartof ourdailywork. Weusethesetechniquestomakeindividualsregaintheirphysicalintegrity,weare thequality-of-lifespeciality. Onourwaytocompetenceinthisfieldweneedgreatexamples,weneedheroes. Andweareluckytohavesomanyofthem. PlasticSurgery,oneoftheyoungestmono-specialtiesinmedicine,historicallyhas beeninnovativetoadrasticextentbyintroducingandaddingthetreatmentofexter- nalappearanceofmankindintomedicalsciencesofhealingpatientsofexclusively functionaldiseases.Asthequalityofresultsismoreobviousinplasticsurgerythan inothermedicalfieldsthesearchforconstantperfectiontogetherwithlessertrau- matictechniquesisinherentinourdailywork.
