The World Agricultural Outlook Board, located in the Office of the Chief Economist, approves USDA’s
outlook and situation forecasts and issues supply and demand estimates. The Board also coordinates
USDA’s weather, climate and remote sensing activities. With the U.S. Department of Commerce, it oper-
ates a Joint Agricultural Weather Facility to monitor weather's impact on U.S. and world crops.

The National Agricultural Statistics Service collects data on crops, livestock, poultry, dairy,
chemical use, prices, and labor, and publishes the official USDA State and national estimates
through its Agricultural Statistics Board. There are nearly 400 reports annually covering
domestic agriculture, such as estimates of production, stocks, inventories, prices, disposition,
utilization, farm numbers and land, and other factors. The 45 field offices serve all States
and collect and publish local information on these topics.
