FEATURES OF THE 2011 NATIONAL
POPULATION AND HOUSING CENSUS
• A number of 113500 Census staff participated in the census
field operation.
• A number of 54524 enumerators recorded information on
population, housing and household characteristics during 20
days by visiting all places in 31 Ostans (provinces), 397
Shahrestans ( sub- provinces), 1331 Shahrs (cities/towns) and
96549 Abadies(villages).
• The enumerators were assigned to collect the data of
nomadic households in their summer and winter quarters via
passing by the mountains and plains.

population of over one million.
In the 2011 National Population and Housing Census, city means each of geographic locality
