! 1/21 1. INTRODUCTION First of all Welcome to iBid for iPad and thank you for downloading it. We hope that it will satisfy all your needs. Don’t hesitate to contact us for feedback, bugs or for any other reason. - This application is a lot more than a bidding program. It has various other tools that will help you manage your roster after it is published, for example: search tools for trip swap, ability to update your roster from eMaestro, ability to transfer data to iCal... And a lot more features are in development! - iBid comes in 2 different versions. A Free version and a Full version on a yearly subscription. The free version has less features than the full version, but allows you to have an overview of iBid. It lets you update your roster, as well as use the very powerful iBid search functions. - iBid has been designed to be used in landscape mode. It can be used in portrait mode, but menus and screens are not optimised in this mode, and you may find that working on iBid is a lot more fluid in landscape mode. It is possible to “lock” the screen in landscape mode see below “Notes for new iPad users”. - If you uninstall iBid from your iPad, be aware that for the time being all your bidding history will be lost. We are aiming in future versions of iBid to provide users with the facility to backup their data on our server, but for the time being, data is only saved on your iPad. Therefore, to be able to keep your previous bidding data, we advise you to avoid deleting iBid from your iPad. When a new iBid update is issued, there is usually no need to delete the app before updating. Just update it the normal way. - Your feedback is invaluable to help us improve iBid. If you experience a crash, you’ll be requested to forward a crash report to us next time you launch the app. It will create an email to send us. It can help us a great deal if you could briefly describe what you were doing when it happened. You can also send us the report as is, as any information in extremely valuable to us. If you are not online when you press “Send”, the report will be kept in your email “Outbox” like any other emails and will be sent automatically the next time you are online. Please note that no personal data get sent to us in a crash report. ! 2/21 2. NOTES FOR NEW IPAD USERS - iOS has a very complex and useful multitasking tool. It lets you use apps simultaneously with a few limitations to avoid discharging the battery too quickly. iBid, like all other Apps, once open will remain active until closed properly. So when you just close the app using the Home button or the On/Off/Sleep button, iBid stays active and if you relaunch it, you start where you left it off. It is done in a fairly efficient way, which doesn’t impact the battery life too much. Sometimes it might be worth closing the App properly (for example if you experience problems running the App or if you want to make sure that you keep all available battery), to do so, do the following: ➡ From the Home screen, click the Home button twice. ➡ Tap and hold on the app ➡ When it starts to jiggle, tap the to close it. ➡ Double-click the Home button and try opening the app again. You can access the multitasking bar at all time either by touching the home button twice or by swiping up with 4 fingers (that is if your “Multitasking Gestures” is enabled in iPad Setting => General). More on multitasking on iOs here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4211 Understanding Multitasking. - As iBid is designed to be used in Landscape mode, let’s see how to lock the screen quickly should you need it (to avoid constant rescaling...): •By default, you can lock the screen by opening the multitasking toolbar (double-click home button or swiping up 4 fingers), •then swiping left as far as you can go and then select the lock screen option on the bottom left of the bar. There is a much easier way, by using the toggle switch located above the volume control on the iPad’s side. This switch is allocated to “muting” by default which is not much use for the iPad. It can be setup as a “lock screen” function by going into: SETTINGS => scroll down in GENERAL to “Use Side Switch to” and select “LOCK ROTATION”. More on using the side switch here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085 iPad: Understanding the side switch. ! 3/21 3. IBID LOGIN SCREEN Main features: - This is the first screen when you launch the App for the first time or after updating it. You also get the login screen each time you open iBid after closing it using the multitasking toolbar. You get your Licence information, the iBid version number and you can input your login information. - iBid strictly follows all BA IT system policies. To that effect, no password is saved anywhere on the iBid App, the iPad or any server. Therefore everytime iBid needs to access BA servers, it will require you to input your Bsafe password. On initial launch of iBid, you are required to enter your 5-letter code and your Bsafe password in order to let iBid check BA systems that your are indeed who you are and that you are allowed to access BA bidding data. - Email: iBid lets you enter an email here. It is optional but highly recommended, in order for us to be able to contact you, as Apple doesn't provide us with any data from users. Also putting your email here will help you organize swaps in the future. In coming iBid updates, you’ll be able to contact people or be contacted directly from iBid. For iBid users using iPhones and/or iCloud you’ll be able to be notified directly on your phone... More on that later! ! 4/21 4. Pressing it, will require you to enter your Bsafe password and iBid will attempt to download your Crewlink roster. It would then appear on the Rosters screen. iBid will not download your Crewlink roster automatically, except during initial setup. Once the Crewlink roster has been loaded, the button is replaced with a button. - When a new leave bid form is available, iBid will ask you whether you want to download the form and have it sent to a chosen email address. If you press , the form will be loaded together with the leave/DFW points as MS Word files and an email will be prepared. After inputing the email address you want, you’ll be able to send an email containing the Leave/DFW bidding documents. You can then print the forms on a computer and submit your paper bid. Main features: - To be able to effectively do your IB1 bid, you’ll need to switch between the main screen shown above, the Preferences screen, the screen and for some the screen. All these screens are available from the top menu bar. - The lower top menu bar lets you carry out the most basic functions such as sorting, sending or selecting lines. - Double tap on a trip to show full trip details (see above). - Single tap anywhere on a line will select it (the line turns pale blue: ). - Simultaneous tap on 2 separate lines (using 2 different fingers) will select the 2 lines and all the lines in between. - Long press on a day label will let you quickly create a day off preference which filters out all the lines not complying with the preference. The preference will default to Filtering ON and 30 points. - A double tap on a line header will bring the detail of the points allocated to the line (see 11) with a list of all your preferences selected on the Preferences screen . This chart is there to help you fine-tune your preferences. The preferences are automatically factored to make sure that a preference which can be satisfied very often doesn’t push down those that can only be satisfied occasionally. For example, if you select a trip preference for a specific date, even with a very low number of points allocated, the preference will be factored so that the lines containing it are at or near the top. This makes it very easy to chose (or not) those lines. Here are the details of the chart’s items: • “n”: indicates the number of times your preference is satisfied. So for example if n=2 with a “Trips reporting at LGW”, it means you have 2 LGW trips on the line. For some preferences such as “Maximize Time at base” which you select by choosing “CREDIT EFFICIENCY”=>”MAXIMIZE CREDIT/TAFB” on the Preference screen, n has a slightly different meaning to avoid undermining the other preferences, and basically the higher the n, the more the “Maximize Time at base “preference is satisfied. • “Pts”: Reminds you of the number of points allocated to the preference. • “ACTIVE” and “FILTERED”: ON or OFF is a reminder of whether the preference is ACTIVE and/or FILTERED on the Preference screen. • “Proportion”: Lets you know the proportion of the total points for the line produced by each preference. - Swipe right on a line to send it to the screen. Confirmation will be required by pressing . The deleted lines can be sent back to the main screen by going on the screen. - Single tap on (left of dates) toggles between and . • : Credit difference per line is against CAP and doesn’t take into account your bank. • : Indicates your projected Bank Out for each line. - Reserve lines display can be toggled ON/OFF on the Preferences screen. ! 9/21 - All trips in DFW or WR can be kept or dropped by using the toggle switch on the Preferences screen. If the option to drop all the trips in WR/DFW is selected ON, all trips affected will appear greyed out. You can retain individual trips by Double Tapping the greyed out trips and select . The button then changes to to allow you to reverse your selection. In general in iBid, the / options only appear when it is possible to drop or retain a trip. - Pressing brings a menu to sort all available lines by various criteria: Points, Total Credit, Credit/Day, Credit/TAFB, Days Off, Total Reports, Value £, Weekends Off, Line Number. Note that the selected preferences have only an impact if is selected, unless Line Filtering is selected ON for a specific preference. If line filtering is selected ON for any preference, all the lines filtered out will be displayed last, regardless of the sorting option selected. Lines filtered out appear greyed out at the bottom of the available lines screen. - There is a very quick way to sort lines with 2 criteria. Let’s say you want to sort lines by number of reports, but within that you want to have the best credit/TAFB. If you select first the option, then , you’ll get first the lines having only 1 trip, sorted in credit/TAFB order, followed by the lines with 2 trips in credit/TAFB order and so on... The previous sorting order is kept for lines similar according to a second sorting option. - Line headers appear in 2 ways: • Before IB1 results published, they will look like this . It indicates the position of the line, the Trip line number, the value of trip, and the difference with CAP or CAP-Bank. • After IB1 results published, they will look like this or . The line value in £ has been replaced by the 5-letter code of the pilot who was awarded the line. When that pilot is senior to you, it has a green background. It is red for a junior pilot. This information is replicated on various pages (IB1, selected or deleted lines). You can therefore check that all the lines have been attributed according to seniority and also see the lines that would have been available to you should you have put a bid for it. - All line headers show the difference with CAP / CAP-Bank (depending on option selected) with various colours: • : Green if the line is above CAP / CAP-Bank. • : Yellow if the line is a Net Low bidder line. • : Red if the line is below wiping level. - The top of the screen gives all relevant information about the last line selected: - The screen is self-explanatory, with the possibility to send back lines to the IB1 available lines screen, and buttons to select all lines or none. ! 10/21
