His current research interests are 1. biorefinery for biofuels and organic chemicals 2. heterogeneous catalysis and chemical reaction engineering 3. process design and techno-economic analysis Heiscurrentlyworkingonhydrodeoxygenationofveg- etableoils,steamandoxidativesteamreforming,conver- sionofbiobutanoltogasoline,butylenes,andaromatics, hydroxyalkylation-alkylation reaction, and hydrocarbon biofuels from platform chemi- cals.Prof.Maityhasexecutedseveralexternallyfundedresearchprojectsandguidedfive PhD students so far. Prof. Maity has published 35 research articles, 5 book chapters, 1 edited book, and delivered several presentations at national and international confer- ences. Kalyan Gayen is an academician in the field of chemical engineering. He is currently working in the Department of Chemical Engineering, National Insti- tute of Technology, Agartala, India. He received his PhD from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California. His current research interests are 1. microalgae and cyanobacteria-based biofuels and bioproducts 2. conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into liquid biofuels and value-added chemicals 3. metabolic network analysis and systems biology 4. fermentation technology He has executed five externally funded projects and guided three PhD students. Dr.Gayenhaspublishedmorethan36researcharticles,1editedbook,13bookchapters, and several presentations at national and international conferences. xvii
