ThenewspeciesissimilartoRlaotla,1usPAULI^N,butcanbedistinguishedfromthelatter mainlybytheconfigurationofmalegenitalia. Recently,Dr.KimioMAsUMoTokindlylentmefor taxonomicstudymanyspeci- mensofhybosorinescarabaeidbeetles fromhiscollectionmadeinNorthwestThai- land Ontheotherhand,Ialsomadeasmallcollectionofhybosorinessomeyearsago inthevicinitiesofChiangMal,Northwest Thailand. The collections consist of four species, whichapparently includeanewspeciesof thegenus Phaeoch,-oops. In the presentpaper,Iamgoingtorecordthem,withdescriptionofthenewspecies.Theab- breviationsusedhereinarealreadyexplainedinmyprevious paper(cf. NlsHIKAwA, 1989). Beforegoingfurther, IwishtoexpressmydeepgratitudetoDr.Shun-lobiUENo oftheNationalScienceMuseum(Nat.Hist ),Tokyo, forhiskindnessincriticallyread- ingtheoriginalmanuscriptofthispaper. Elytraconvex,widestbehindthemiddle,EW/PW137-1.45(M I39) inmale, 1.38_1.45(MI41)infemale,EL/PL2.43-2.59(M2.50)inmale,2.37-2.56(M2.47) in female,EL/EW l 20-1.27(M I 23)inmale,1.18-1.22(M I 20)in female; lateral marginsarcuateandcarinate,entirelysetiferous, thesetae inbasal 2/3 longerand thicker thanthosealongthelateralmarginsofpronotum,becomingshorterapicad; apiceswithsuturalanglesminutelypointed;discslightlydepressedinmid-basalpor- tion,suddenlydescendingtowardsapexataboutapical1/7,withapairofthreealmost bifariouscostae,thefirstcostadisappearingatapical1/7,withalowofpunctures, the puncturesequal inshapetothoseonintervals;thesecondoneshorterthanthefirst;the thirdoneindistinct,theshortest;intervalsweaklydepressed,ratherregularlypunctate, thepuncturessmall,horseshoe-shaped,umbilicateonapicalportion,almostsetiferous; the interspace among the punctures polished; epipleura entire, slightly concave, clothedwithshortsetae.
