A RESOLUTION
1 Commending the Clinch County High School Panthers football team for winning the 2018
2 GHSA 1A State Football Championship; and for other purposes.
3 WHEREAS, the Clinch County High School Panthers football team has established and
4 maintained a proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed another triumphant season of football
7 competition by posting an outstanding record of 13 wins and only one loss; and
8 WHEREAS, excellent play, superior teamwork, and extraordinary resilience made this team
9 a spectacular one to observe throughout the season, and as a fitting finale to its remarkable
10 2018 campaign, the team captured its third state football championship in four years; and
11 WHEREAS, only four schools in GHSA history have secured more state football
12 championships than Clinch County High School, which now holds a total of eight state titles
13 in football; and
14 WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
15 athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each
16 member of the team under the astute direction of Head Coach Jim Dickerson; and
17 WHEREAS, Head Coach Jim Dickerson has set a new record as Clinch County High
18 School's winningest coach in history with an overall record of 152-44-1; only five coaches
19 in GHSA history have coached more state title teams than he has; and
20 WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
21 performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is
22 abundantly proper to call them champions.

23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
24 the members of this body commend the Clinch County High School Panthers football team
25 for winning the 2018 GHSA 1A State Football Championship and extend their most sincere
26 best wishes for continued success.
27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the
29 Clinch County High School Panthers football team.
