A RESOLUTION
1 Honoring the life and memory of Dr. Martin Moran; and for other purposes.
2 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
3 with the passing of Dr. Martin Moran on October 31, 2018; and
4 WHEREAS, Dr. Martin Moran was born in 1936, in New York, New York, a beloved son
5 of John Patrick and Catherine Moran; and
6 WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United
7 States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans for five years as
8 an Army physician, retiring as Major; and
9 WHEREAS, after retiring from the Army he had a successful pediatric practice in Sandy
10 Springs for the next 32 years; and
11 WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Harriet, and was blessed with
12 two remarkable children, Todd and Crawford; four wonderful grandchildren, Jorie, Margaret,
13 Martin Cotten, and Cole; and three amazing step-grandchildren, Sienna, Joseph, and Sydney;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern
16 for his patients and fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he
17 demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and
18 WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation
19 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he
20 made this world a better place in which to live; and

21 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Dr. Martin Moran will long be remembered
22 for his love of family and friendship and will be missed by all who had the great fortune of
23 knowing him.
24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
25 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Dr. Martin Moran and
26 express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.
27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the
29 family of Dr. Martin Moran.
